Senior Accountant Location: Walnut Creek, CA (On-site) Position Overview The Senior Accountant is a hands-on, detail-oriented role responsible for overseeing core accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and managing month-end and year-end close activities. This position plays a key role in supporting a fast-paced, multi-entity, construction-focused organization and requires strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to resolve discrepancies efficiently. This role is based on-site in the Walnut Creek office. Key Responsibilities + Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring timely processing, accurate coding, and compliance with established internal controls + Support AP/AR close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis + Lead monthly and annual close processes, preparing journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet account reconciliations + Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial data used for management reporting and decision-making + Reconcile job cost accounts and confirm proper posting to the general ledger + Assist with preparation and maintenance of Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, including over/under billing reconciliations + Analyze gross margin fluctuations and provide clear explanations and insights to management + Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits + Prepare and file sales and use tax returns across multiple states + Support tax-related matters associated with construction projects + Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, construction accounting standards, revenue recognition rules, and internal control policies + Partner closely with project managers, superintendents, and operations teams to support accurate cost tracking and financial transparency + Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and internal controls as the organization scales + Provide financial insights and recommendations to support operational and strategic decisions + Perform ad hoc accounting duties and special projects as needed Qualifications + Bacheloru2019s degree required; Accounting, Finance, or a related field strongly preferred + 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated experience in the construction industry + Senior-level experience managing both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable + Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP with hands-on experience in construction accounting, including WIP and revenue recognition + Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail + Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively with finance and operations teams + Self-directed, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment + Experience with construction and accounting systems such as Sage, Procore, Salesforce, Oracle Textura, or Plexxis preferred + Experience supporting multi-entity and multi-state operations preferred + Working knowledge of payroll practices preferred This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional who enjoys being hands-on, working closely with operations, and contributing Pay Details: $105,000.00 to $120,000.00 per year Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled Military connected talent encouraged to apply To read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please navigate to The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable: + The California Fair Chance Act + Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance + Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers + San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance Massachusetts Candidates Only: It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment.
