Dimensional Engineer

Job Description Job Description: This job will require working various shifts, overtime, and some off-shift production support Key Job Elements: Create and implement daily quality control procedures for body shop dimensional control. Support daily quality control procedures for body shop welding, dispense, fastening and metal finish. u2022 Provide a safe work environment u2022 Group leader for Dimensional Op Techs and CMM Operators u2022 Manage body dimensional control procedures u2013 Understands and monitors A, B, C & E31 data and metrics for the body shop and drives the process to achieve metric goals u2022 Coordinates and analyzes dimensional data collection from CMM and Perceptron Vision Systems to drive build to nominal u2022 Provide corrective action for customer dis-satisfiers u2022 Be a technical resource for skilled trades and production teams u2022 Support the maintenance & engineering group for all activities, including breakdowns & project planning u2022 Support production & maintenance for TIP, ISO & GMS u2022 Provide an environment which stimulates team member involvement and personal growth u2022 Provide customer support for Stamping, Paint and General Assembly u2022 Lead problem solving activities working with Stamping and outside suppliers to resolve process related issues u2022 You will analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes u2022 You will propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area u2022 Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area u2022 You will keep regular contact with partners outside the work group u2022 You will provide direction to small group of technical employees u2022 You may evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment Required: u2022 Extensive understanding of body shop tooling and manufacturing dimensional processes u2022 Process validation experience with new equipment build, installation and start-up u2022 Broad knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes u2022 Well-developed oral and written communication skills u2022 Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment u2022 Must be willing to rotate shifts u2022 Extensive ISO Knowledge Preferred: u2022 Production and/or maintenance leadership experience u2022 Launch experience u2022 Dimensional experience u2022 GMS Knowledge Education: u2022 Bachelor degree (Mechanical or Electrical) GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
