Experienced P&C Field Services Technician

Enter WSP is currently initiating a search for a POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Experienced P&C Field Services Technician for our project locations in the states of Texas and Louisiana. Successful applicants will be involved in projects with our PTE Team and be a part of a growing organization that is solving problems and supporting client needs in electrical testing and commissioning in utility substations, industrial, and bulk electrical power systems. Your Impact + Perform assigned testing and commissioning tasks for Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations + Perform on-site hands-on protective relay testing using relay test sets such as Omicron CMC 256/356 or Doble F6150. Examples of relays to be tested are SEL-311L, SEL-387, SEL-487, SEL-421, SEL-351S, GE L90, GE D60 among others + Use field forms, digital data tools, and mobile applications to document site activities + Perform equipment cleaning, inventory control, and calibration as directed + Support the Project Lead or Field Supervisor on projects + Escalate complex technical problems or unexpected field conditions to the site lead or project manager + Participate in daily safety briefings and ensure compliance with health and safety protocolsCommunicate progress, field observations, and potential delays to the project team + May review the work of less experienced technicians for quality and accuracy, providing informal guidance as needed + Maintain attention to detail when filling out logs, photo documentation, and label entriesCollaborate with other technicians to maintain workflow, safety, and quality standards + Assist in monitoring subcontractor performance and activities and report observations to field leadership + Perform clerical responsibilities such as timecards, expense reports, and project reports + Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSPu2019s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures + Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs Who You Are Required Qualifications + High school diploma or equivalent + Minimum of 7 years of experience in the electrical testing industry, including experience in medium and high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing + Demonstrable expertise on transmission, generation, and distribution relays (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, and GE families) and protective schemes + Technical skills related to protective relays include relay calibration utilizing test sets/measuring devices such as Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, control scheme testing, testing of the sensing CT/PT circuits, ability to upload settings to microprocessor relays, and static & dynamic testing of microprocessor-based protective relays + Proven experience with electrical field testing standards, practices, and procedures, such as NETA, IEEE, and NFPA applicable standards + Demonstrable knowledge of testing electrical distribution, generation, and transmission projects with voltage levels ranging from 15 kV to 500 kV, including protective relays and circuit breakers + Experience using technical software such as ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, and AcSELerator Quickset for testing purposes and data review + Experience with reading and understanding electrical drawings + Ability to identify routine field challenges and equipment issues, responding within established procedures and escalating atypical conditions + Skilled in preparing field logs, sketches, and digital reports + Physical stamina to work in outdoor and physically demanding conditions + Experience collaborating with contractors, technicians, and engineers + Demonstrated commitment to field safety, quality, and regulatory compliance + Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills for field team collaboration + Capable of critical thinking and problem-solving skills to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from inspection and testing results + Capability to support a wide variety of tasks in dynamic or changing environments + Ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines, and maintain accountability in the field + Commitment to continued learning and development in technical field services + Understanding of confidentiality and ethical behavior in technical environments + Competent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment + Reliable, punctual, with the ability to work independently or with a team + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSPu2019s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies + Willingness and physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds individually, and up to 100 pounds with assistance + Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation, and the ability to adjust focus + Valid driveru2019s license and clean driving record + Must be willing to travel (up to 80%) Preferred Qualifications + Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Technology degree in a similar discipline + Experience in testing and troubleshooting electromechanical relays + Experience in testing and commissioning electrical equipment on high voltage substations such as CTs, CCVTs, PLC systems, and DC systems, including batteries and battery chargers + Current OSHA 30-hour or 40-hour HAZWOPER certification #LI-SL2 About WSP WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
