DescriptionAWS Global Field Operations (GFO) provides the best end-to-end support for AWS products and services in non-traditional environments including Outposts Services. GFO brings native AWS services, infrastructure, and operating models to virtually any data center, co-location space, or customer on-premises facility and edge sites. Customers can now use the same AWS APIs, tools, and infrastructure across their on-premises and the AWS cloud to deliver a truly consistent hybrid experience. We are looking for a GFO Technician who is an experienced and highly motivated Data Center Technician to install and support AWS deployments in non-traditional environments. As a GFO technician, you will maintain and operate the worldu2019s largest cloud computing infrastructure across a number of local and remote locations across Americas. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, weu2019re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Key job responsibilities This is a customer-facing role that requires strong technical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Your activities will include (but not limited to): u2022 Build relationships with internal teams and customers along with innovating effective solutions to meet issues & problems as they arise u2022 Conducting site assessments at various facilities to proactively prepare for the onsite installation of AWS equipment u2022 Installing/expanding/provisioning AWS infrastructure at the third-party premises, data center, and/or non-traditional environment u2022 Troubleshooting network installations & configurations and performing network testing, break/fix and/or decommissioning and solving complex problems u2022 Proactively identifying and implementing strategies that prevent support issues and/or further enhance the customer experience u2022 Conduct day-to-day business, both internally and with external customers u2022 Required travel up to 30% on average. You will be required to travel between locations to install, service, and retrieve AWS equipment. u2022 Physical ability to push and/or pull heavy objects into position (regularly lift up to 18kg and participate in team lifts of 30 kg) u2022 May lead or participate in efforts to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and tools that improve operational efficiencies u2022 May lead larger projects that require cross-functional alignment and support, including large-DC installations, global-reaching business initiatives, and/or development of mechanisms to support growth to ensure compliance with global group standards. u2022 May be required to work at height to maintain AWS infrastructure equipment while adhering to AWS health & safety guidelines. u2022 Most of all, you will have a passion for technology along with a desire to be the best at your job every day About the team Diverse Experiences AWS values diverse experiences. Basic Qualifications- Knowledge of fundamentals of networking, security, databases (relational or NoSQL), operating systems (Unix, Linux, and/or Windows) - 4+ years of data center engineering or operations experience - 2+ years of leading large complex programs experiencePreferred Qualifications- CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco/CCNA, Linux (Redhat), Microsoft hardware (installation), AWS, or other industry relevant certifications - Bachelor's degree, or 4+ years of relevant technical position experience - Experience working in a customer-facing environment - Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos - Knowledge of power, cooling, cabling, networking hardware, inventory management, and automation Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
