You will work withstate-of-the-arttechnology and will build a rewarding career with one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world.The5 East Cardiac Stepdown Unitat Indian River Hospitalis an extension of the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)offeringmixed acuity telemetry and medicalservices.As a Patient Care NurseAssistant (PCNA)on this team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming,healingand warm environment.This position offers the ability to pursuenumerouseducational advancementopportunities,advancedpositions and skills development courses offered this role, youalsohave an excellentavenuein whichto start your nursing careerand gain Cardiac and Neuro experiencein a supportive andinnovativehealthcare setting.APRNcaregiver in this positionworksvaryingnightsfrom6:45PM - 7:15AM.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Assistnursing caregivers, promote patientcomfortand carry out nursing ordersTransport patients by wheelchair,bedor stretcher from the department/unit.Conduct EKG andphlebotomyduties.Attendtopatientand family needs and problems.Assistpatients withactivities of daily living, such as dressing,bathingand hygiene.Report pertinent informationregardingpatientconditiontoappropriate nursingstaff.Assistpatients with tray set up and feeding.Restock supplies daily and order supplies from Central Supply.Document care provided in the medical record.Collect and transport specimens.Provide RNs/LPNs withaccurateandtimelyintake/output data, vital signs, blood glucose results and other data, note changes from prior measurement and communicate accordingly.Respond to call lights within five minutes or communicate inability to do so.Report patientneeds toan RN/LPNimmediately.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:High School Diploma or GEDBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Crossupon or within new hire periodNursing students:Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificationrequiredprior to hireMilitary experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) consideredPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Graduate of an approved Nursing Program orprevioushospital trainingCertified Nursing Assistant (CNA) CertificationSix months of experience in an acute care hospital settingPhysical Requirements:The position requires a considerate amount of physical work not to exceed 50 pounds.Any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance.The individual will be required to pull up or reposition patients in bed, lift supplies, place equipment or supports, and push beds throughout the hospital.The individual must be able to bend over to perform certain duties such as check chest tube drainage, check urine output, etc.The individual must be able to quickly maneuver throughout halls, stairways and patient rooms in response to hospital terpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory the event there is a need to evacuate the building, heavy lifting will be required to carry patients to safety.Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests; ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively with department director, physicians and other members of the Healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.Special Demands: Essential Sensory requirement - ability to visually assess patients and implement plan of care.Essential Technical/Motor Skill - finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination are necessary when charting, using equipment, and providing direct patient care.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.Pay RangeSalaries [which may be] shown on independent job search websites reflect various market averages and do not represent information obtained directly from The Cleveland Clinic.
