MRI Technologist Location: Iowa Methodist Medical Center Address: Des Moines, IA About the Role UnityPoint u2013 Iowa Methodist Medical Center is seeking an experienced MRI Technologist to perform high-quality MRI examinations during evening shifts across multiple campuses. The technologist will operate Siemens and GE MRI systems, perform advanced imaging studies, adjust scanning parameters for patient body habitus, and support ED, inpatient, and outpatient imaging needs. This role requires strong technical proficiency, comfort working independently, and the ability to follow established MRI protocols while ensuring patient safety and diagnostic accuracy. Key Responsibilities + Perform MRI exams of the brain, spine, body, and extremities on patients of all ages + Adjust scanning parameters (T1, T2, FLAIR, SAT) based on patient habitus and pathology + Select and modify technical factors to optimize image quality + Perform diffusion studies, MR angiograms, reformats, and MIP imaging + Operate Siemens and GE MRI systems + Follow physician instructions and position patients accurately + Start and remove IV lines for contrast studies; operate IV contrast power injectors + Identify and respond to IV contrast reactions, including emergency escalation + Perform comprehensive MRI safety screening for all individuals entering the MRI suite + Review requisitions, prior studies, and clinical indications for consistency + Archive, retrieve, and photograph images as needed + Perform equipment quality control and document system failures + Present completed exams to radiologists and communicate pertinent findings + Maintain accurate film identification and anatomical orientation + Adhere to all Amergis and facility policies and procedures + Float across UnityPoint campuses as needed (Iowa Methodist, Iowa Lutheran, Iowa Methodist West) + Other duties as assigned Shift Schedule Shift: Evenings Hours: 2:00 PM u2013 12:00 AM Schedule: 40 hours/week Call Requirements: + One weeknight every other week + One weekend (Fri/Sat) every 10th weekend Scrubs: Charcoal gray Minimum Requirements + Associateu2019s or Bacheloru2019s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field + Registered with ARRT (MRI) as required + Minimum 1 year MRI experience preferred (GE & Siemens experience strongly preferred) + Current CPR (if applicable) + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (as required) + Current health certificate (per state/contract regulations) + Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements + Strong communication skills; English proficiency required + Computer proficiency required + Must be at least 18 years of age Compensation Packages Travel MRI Technologist Hourly Pay: $38 Meals: $560 Housing: $847 Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,927 Facility Information Iowa Methodist Medical Center is a major regional medical center serving ED, inpatient, and outpatient populations.
