Where You Will Work: Florida Department of Transportation Tampa Operations Center 2822 Leslie Rd Tampa, FL 33619 Your Specific Responsibilities: Upon receipt of the required CDL Instructional permit or license; operates a variety of vehicles and mechanized equipment to include backhoe, tractors with attachments, crew cabs, and dump truck. Performs pre-trip inspection/minor maintenance on vehicles/equipment that they are operating. Cleans and washes equipment. Uses a variety of hand, pneumatic, and electrical tools to maintain bridges and roadways. Performs independent manual labor incidental to job assignments at an intermediate level of complexity with minimal supervision. Performs rough carpentry, masonry, painting and/or assist in the assembly and erection of highway signs. Performs Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Your Specific Responsibilities: Upon receipt of the required CDL Instructional permit or license; operates a variety of vehicles and mechanized equipment to include backhoe, tractors with attachments, crew cabs, and dump truck. Ability to: + Read and understand job related materials and fill out reports and forms. + Maintain and repair highways, bridges and/or other highway structures. + Communicate both verbally and in writing, including following oral/written instructions. + Develop and maintain effective working relationships with others. + Lift, carry, and handle up to 50 pounds. + Stoop, climb, squat, push, pull, crawl or bend on a frequent basis. + Work outdoors in various weather conditions, on various terrains and at various heights or in high volume traffic. + Stand for an extended period. + Operate motor vehicles and other mechanical equipment.
