Our diverse generating fleet features non-emitting nuclear, scrubbed baseload coal, natural gas, and pumped storage hydro and other renewables.About the OpportunityThis is a position within FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.The Legal Specialist is responsible for providing support to the Legal Department and other departments throughout the Company on various legal and regulatory matters. This position reports to a supervising attorney or Associate General Counsel as assigned. All tasks are performed under the direction or supervision of an attorney.It is located at the FirstEnergy Headquarters / White Pond Dr., location in Akron, OH.Responsibilities include: Preparing drafts of correspondence and simple legal documents Managing internal legal department processes for preparing, filing and management of applications for regulatory authorization for certain transmission customer service activities Conducting legal research, including the use of Lexis, internet and other databases and resources, gather data, produce reports from the data Cite-checking and proofing letters, diagrams, and pleadings for filing, research history and current status of a docket or filing, verifying accuracy of documents Filing pleadings, applications and other documents with the appropriate court or administrative agency, as directed by an attorney Assisting in-house or outside counsel, as appropriate, including the regulatory review and the discovery process, drafting answers to interrogatories; drafting answers to requests for the production of documents; collecting and reviewing documents in response to such requests; docketing and reporting deadlines as well as status, managing the process flow for drafting/sending discovery as well as receiving/responding to discovery Assisting in-house or outside counsel, as appropriate, with e-discovery, including document review and classification, and document production Retrieving information from agency or court files and dockets, reporting results Coordinating file management, including organization, tracking and monitoring of agreements and litigation of regulatory and court cases, ensure compliance with regulatory, administrative and judicial protocols and rules Coordinating and conducting due diligence reviews and document/fact gathering Assisting with group administration: preparing and maintaining weekly reports, administering and maintaining data for other periodic reporting, etc. Other duties as assignedQualifications High school diploma or GED required, Associates or Bachelor's degree a plus Minimum 4 years professional work experience required with legal background preferred ABA Paralegal Certification or equivalent preferred Experience with general litigation or transactional work or financings Experience with process management with a customer-service focus Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Teams) as well as experience in Lexis and other internet database research Additional skills with File Net, SAP and PACER, SharePoint, NetDocuments, helpful Ability to multi-task, prioritize assignments, and apply excellent organizational skills Strong attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills requiredApply here:
