Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings u2013 carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Scope of Position: Serve as an electrical controls resource for process improvement, cost reduction and capital expansion projects. Manage electrical and controls scope of assigned projects. Lead/participate in project teams and support daily manufacturing operations by providing technical support to plantu2019s various control systems. Day to Day Responsibilities: u2022 Provide high-quality electrical and process engineering-level by supporting various electrical and machine controls systems in a fast-paced, 24 x 7 manufacturing environment. u2022 Track daily production/quality metrics and plan reactionary measures as needed. u2022 Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts utilizing Six Sigma/SPC tools. u2022 Own performance of key attributes: develop and maintain tracking tools, report out on daily discrepancies, and manage long-term performance. u2022 Lead and/or work closely with technicians to resolve equipment and process issues. u2022 Provide incremental training on new equipment or process changes as needed to technicians or operations. u2022 Provide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues. u2022 Lead projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new products/processes u2022 Actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects. u2022 Ensure all equipment and processes are safe to operate. Ensure safety procedures, such as Lock-Out Tag-Out, are always followed. Understanding of NEC and other pertinent safety codes. Required Qualifications: u2022 BS or MS in the following Engineering Disciplines: Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated controls aptitude u2022 Ability to debug and monitor PLC code u2013 ladder logic. u2022 Highly motivated and strong electrical aptitude. u2022 Sound understanding of AC/DC electrical theory, and practical application thereof u2022 Seeks to identify and correct potential safety or environmental issues before they occur. u2022 Good problem-solving skills. Ability to reach first principles understanding. u2022 Working knowledge of data analysis techniques using Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL, and/or PowerBI. u2022 Ability to generate and interpret electrical drawings. u2022 Knowledge of ANSI standards, NFPA and NEC applicable Electrical Codes. u2022 Ability to participate on, or lead, project or process improvement teams by communicating with all levels of the organization. Desired Skills: u2022 2 years of manufacturing experience u2022 Experience and/or understanding of Six Sigma techniques u2022 Strong diagnostic skills on electro-mechanical systems u2022 Self-starter able to exceed expectations with a minimal amount of Supervision. u2022 Extensive experience with various electro-mechanical systems. u2022 Experience with Allen Bradley controllers and associated hardware including: PLC and I/O devices, motion control, various communication protocols, field wiring and disconnect devices. u2022 Experience with various electro-mechanical devices (ie. servo motors, valves and sensing devices) u2022 Experience with industrial vision systems and scanning devices. Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or other 3D modeling software. Travel Requirements: Less than 5% Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 8 hours/day; 40 hours/week. This position requires off-hours coverage on nights and weekends on a rotating basis with co-workers ( This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $88,834.00 - $122,148.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
