The purpose of this position is to function as a member of the Rehabilitation services patient care team byproviding physical therapy services such as exercise, gait training, patient/family education and various otherphysical modalities to assist patients in improving strength, endurance, mobility, flexibility and decreasingpain. Therapists evaluate each appropriately referred patient, establish treatment goals and objectives, developand implement the physical therapy treatment plan. Therapists are expected to supervise therapy interns, assistwith other educational research activities conducted by the department or the hospital and meet hospitalstandards regarding documentation and productivity. This position may include weekend shift rotation.Evaluation and Caseload ManagementPrioritizes patients care needs given medical necessity, discharge plan, medical stability and appropriateness to participate in rehabilitationEvaluates patients to determine appropriateness of referralIdentifies rehab potential, establishes treatment goals specific to the scope of acute care rehabilitation, including functional outcomes, quantitativemeasures and target datesDevelops treatment plans to achieve identified goalsDocuments evaluations in patient’s medical record in compliance with DNV, OHSU, OAR’s and third-party payer criteriaEnters accurate codes for services performed and bills time in patient care accuratelyProvides consultation in a time-efficient manner for patients, specific to care area; requesting orders and/or providing guidance to the patient’s teamregarding activity or prevention of complicationsProvides skilled rehabilitation treatmentPrioritizes care needs given medical necessity, discharge plan, medical stability and appropriateness to participate in rehabilitationPerforms and documents skilled patient care activities, including direct treatment and caregiver/patient/family educationMonitors and adjusts treatment plans specific to patient progressCommunicates patient needs and promotes carryover of strategies, precautions, etc. with nursing and other caregiversUpdates recommendations to team regarding continuing rehabilitation needs and plan as patient’s condition and situations warrantDirects, supports and provides supervision as required for PTAs, aides and volunteers -Develops and enhances patient care program and patient outcomes in specialty area.Clinical EducationProvides evidence-based clinical instruction experiences and supervision for PT and PTA studentsEnsure student completion of weekly goals; identifies and facilitates achievement of affiliation objectivesProvides regular feedback and completes evaluations on scheduleParticipates in the supervision and training for students from other disciplinesOther Duties as AssignedA license with the Oregon Physical Therapist Licensing Board as a Physical Therapist;ORCompleted an accredited physical therapy educational program and be eligible to obtain an Oregon Physical Therapy license or temporary permit.At the time of appointment must have at least a temporary permitCurrent American Heart BLS CPR certificationAcute hospital, SNF, inpatient rehab experience or student affiliationDPTInpatient hospital environmentBenefits:Healthcare Options - Covered 100% for full-time employees and 88% for dependents, and $25K of term life insurance provided at no cost to the employeeTwo separate above market pension plans to choose fromVacation- up to 200 hours per year depending on length of serviceSick Leave- up to 96 hours per year8 paid holidays per yearSubstantial Tri-met and C-Tran discountsAdditional Programs including: Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Oregon Health & Science University values a diverse and culturally competent workforce.
