Our experience includeshigh-performance buildings, hospitals, net zero/renewable energy technologies, microgrid and energy resilience design, and a broad set of other MEPS services.Our MEPS teamcontainssubject matter experts in leadership roles in international professional organizations such as ASHRAE.Our repeat clients include universities, healthcare systems, state, local, and federal government agencies, and large global industrial manufacturers, among others.Our MEPS service line is ranked #30 nationally among MEP Giants.Because our backlog continues togrow,and energy market transformation is accelerating demand for our engineeringexpertise, we are seeking aMechanical Discipline/Department Manager to join our Nashville office.As a Mechanical Discipline/Department Manager,youwillbe responsible forproviding operational and technical guidance and training/mentoring of our design resources in all areas of work we doassociatedwith Mechanical engineering.You will assist the Business Unit Manager and Service Line Leader in the development and implementation of growth strategies.Youwill alsoassistthe Project/Client Managers byprovidingtechnical guidance to help meet the client’s desires and budget.Youwill also work with a team of engineers on a variety of private, public, and federal projects.In addition to working with mechanical engineers,youwill team with architectural, electrical, structural, and other disciplines to provide full-range services to our local and regional clients.In short,youwillprovidebusiness leadership and technical guidance associated with mechanical engineering toaccomplishour project commitments and growthobjectives. More specifically:Providing mechanical technical guidance/leadership toaccomplishthe work committed to in proposals and assigning / leading theappropriate mechanicalresources to do the work.Assist Project/Client Managers by providing engineering resources - a design team - to help meet the client’s desires and budget. Duties would also include some involvement in direct sales andassistingwith sales efforts formultidisciplineprojects.Technical and Quality oversight of all mechanical work. Authority for all technical decisions made for projects within the Department including establishing/improving mechanical design standards.Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions, technical and cost estimates.Coordination with all disciplines involved, including outside consultants.Taking a highly active role in recruitment of mechanical staff including networking, recruitment, interviewing and “deal closing”.Organizing mechanical staff in a way to allow career advancement, professional development, quality client service, and operational efficiencies to meet business and project financial goals.Schedule for the mechanical department/staff including:Project assignments and prioritiesDelivery due dates for group project commitmentsWorkload/CapacityAnnual evaluations for each direct report.Provide general updates of where mechanical discipline is at on projects (status in the process, tasks to complete, percentage complete currently, budget, etc.)Identifymilestone dates when each discipline should provide information, at each phase, to allow sufficient time forgood designcoordination.Attention to project scope during the design process toidentifypotentialadditionalservices.Simply put - Discipline/Department Managers control all production resources, and all commitments must come from Discipline/Department Managers. Conversely - accountability for our deliveries comes from Discipline/Department Managers.Accomplished mechanical engineer/PE with 15+ years of progressive technical experience in the design of mechanical systems.Experience should include technical oversight of multiple projects with proven success in meeting contract specifications and achieving high performance and growth of a team.Self-motivated with highly developed verbal,written,and interpersonal skills.Do not meet every single requirement?
