Patient Access Specialist

Description The Patient Access Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring patients have timely and accurate access to healthcare services. This position focuses on patient registration and insurance verification while minimizing barriers to care. The Patient Access Specialist ensures accuracy, compliance, and a positive patient experience from initial contact through service delivery. Key Responsibilities + Register patients and validate demographic and insurance information + Obtain prior authorizations and referrals + Explain financial responsibility and payment options + Coordinate with clinical departments to ensure accurate patient flow + Resolve registration or coverage discrepancies + Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations + Review and update patient accounts prior to service delivery + Monitor appointment readiness and resolve access barriers + Communicate coverage issues to patients with clarity and empathy + Support revenue cycle accuracy through thorough documentation Requirements + Experience in healthcare registration, admissions, or patient access + Knowledge of insurance verification, authorizations, and referrals + Familiarity with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA + Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills + Ability to work accurately under time constraints + Basic understanding of medical terminology preferred + Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and related healthcare systems, including: + EHR platforms: Epic, Meditech, Cerner + Insurance verification portals: Availity, Navinet + Scheduling systems + Revenue cycle management tools + Microsoft Office Suite TalentMatchu00ae Robert Half is the worldu2019s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
