To complete the supplemental questions please go to CAPPS Recruit to register or login and access your profile:CAPPS RecruitGeneral Description:Serves as a key member of the Veterans Mental Health Department, responsible for coordinating and implementing strategies that support the Texas Veterans Commissionu2019s efforts related to Homeless Veterans. This includes developing program strategies and working with agencies involved in homeless prevention and housing resources. The role also involves collaboration with service organizations that support homeless Veterans. This position is essential in organizing and advancing TVCu2019s Homeless Veterans initiatives and works closely with governmental agencies, local coalitions, and community partners on cross-agency efforts.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:u00b7 Represent the Texas Veterans Commission and Veterans Mental Health Department at conferences, meetings, and public events.u00b7 Coordinate with other TVC programs to connect homeless veterans with eligible services.u00b7 Coordinate with federal, state, and local stakeholders to align accessible resources for veterans in need.u00b7 Collaborate with internal programs within the Veterans Mental Health Department and across other TVC departments.u00b7 Conduct and facilitate training, workshops, and meetings in-person or virtually.u00b7 Develop and maintain partnerships with individuals, organizations, and community stakeholders.u00b7 Represent the state on national and regional veteran homelessness initiatives, committees, and conferencesu00b7 Build and maintain a network of peers and professionals to exchange information and best practices related to veteran services.u00b7 Provide training and technical assistance to service providers and partners on best practices and emerging models. Attend outreach events.u00b7 Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.Military Crosswalk information: Minimum Education:u00b7 A bacheloru2019s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, sociology or other related field from an accredited institution.College Transcripts are required and must be provided before an interview can be extended, it is preferred they be attached to the application. Minimum Experience: u2022 5 years related experience in the job duties listed above. Additional Requirements:u00b7 A valid Texas Driveru2019s License must be provided within 90 days of hire. Preferred Experience and Qualification: u00b7 Masteru2019s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related mental health field.u00b7 Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Texas as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Psychologist.u00b7 Experience working with veterans, service members, and their families.u00b7 Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or housing crises.u00b7 Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health concerns.u00b7 Experience building and maintaining partnerships with federal, state, and local stakeholders.u00b7 Military veteran status is strongly preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of programs and services available to Veterans and their families at the federal, state, and local levels. Knowledge of current issues impacting individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Knowledge of mental health concerns and common barriers to accessing care and resources. Knowledge of current issues impacting the veteran community. Skill in developing and delivering training related to veteran needs and available resources. Ability to research, collect, and analyze data to improve services for veteran households. Ability to provide guidance and technical assistance on veteran mental health issues. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to speak confidently in both large and small group settings. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment. Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.Environmental & Physical Conditions: Normal office work environment, mostly sedentary in nature. May involve walking; standing; remaining stationary for long periods of time; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping, and bending; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds.
