Overview The 1,054-room Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport is the newest luxury hotel in the City of Boston, and the most significant hotel project in the city for the last forty years. The property features seven outlets for drinking and dining, a signature spa, fitness center, and rooftop pool. It boasts more than 100,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and caters to the most discerning clientele. Job Description The Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport is located in the center of the bustling Seaport District. The AAA Four Diamond Rated hotel boasts 1,054 finely appointed guestrooms, seven distinct dining ( experiences, a scenic rooftop pool ( , and a luxe day spa ( , all of which allow us to provide each guest a unique and memorable experience. Creativity must infuse everything we do, and everyone in the hotel. Performance realities will always exist, but we use these constraints to push, not limit, our creativity. We believe there is always a way to make it work. If we don't have the solution, we dig deeper creatively to find one. Responsible for the overall operation and success of the Pastry Department. Responsible for the execution of all Omni Hotels and Resorts company policies/procedures. Salary for this position is: $63,000 - $86,000/year based on experience Responsibilities u2022 Responsible for all items in Pastry Kitchen, food quality, cost control, labor, staff supervision, and creating menus. u2022 Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. u2022 Directly supervises all employees through hands-on leadership. u2022 Ensure guest satisfaction with the smooth and effective running of the day-to-day operation. u2022 Participates in the recruitment process to include attending job fairs, conducting interviews and selecting talent for the department. u2022 Responsible for payroll, scheduling, and training and development of staff u2022 To conduct/attend all required department meetings. Qualifications u2022Candidate is required to have at least 2 years previous culinary management experience specializing in pastry. Experience in a high-volume luxury hotel or resort preferred. u2022 Associates Degree in Culinary Arts or Baking/Pastry Arts required. u2022 Candidate must be creative and up to speed on new concepts and food trends. u2022 Candidate must have proven leadership skills and must be able to train, develop, and motivate staff. u2022 Ability to teach employees importance of, and how to interact with internal/external guests and courteously solve internal requests u2022 Ability to train staff to produce high volumes of work while maintaining quality per Omni standards u2022 Able to set priorities for the pastry culinary team and provide feedback to others that enhances performance. u2022 Prior experience managing schedules, inventory, payroll, food cost, service recovery and associate relations matters required. u2022 Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management and co-workers, both in person and by telephone u2022 Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and provide guest follow up in a fast paced environment. u2022 Must be familiar with batch and quantity cooking u2022 Eye/hand coordination needed to use all kitchen equipment. u2022 Highly motivated self-starter focused on quality, organization, cleanliness and teamwork. u2022 Must be able to utilize culinary tools (knives, commercial equipment, etc) and taste/smell. u2022 Must be proficient with computers. u2022 Serve Safe certified food manager. u2022 Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 75 lbs. Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time, with frequent bending and twisting. Must be able to utilize culinary tools (knives, commercial equipment, etc) and taste/smell. u2022 Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
