Hours may change based on business needs and may vary in accordance with division policies for Work Alternative Schedules (WALT).Qualifications: Minimum QualificationsEducation:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelorand#8217;s degree.Experience:Technical Writer I:and#8226; One year of experience with technical writing, journalism, or communications.and#8226; Experience using Microsoft Office products.and#8226; Knowledge of the techniques and methods of planning, organizing, and writing various types of materials; research methodology; and departmental policies, procedures, and regulations.and#8226; Skill in writing technical and business documents.and#8226; Ability to conduct research; to compose, review, illustrate, and edit technical documents, materials, and reports; and to communicate effectively.Technical Writer II:and#8226; Three years of experience with technical writing, journalism, or communications.and#8226; Experience writing in plain language format.and#8226; Experiencing using Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat.and#8226; Knowledge of the techniques and methods of planning, organizing, and writing various types of materials; research methodology; and departmental policies, procedures, and regulations.and#8226; Skill in writing technical and business documents.and#8226; Ability to conduct research; to compose, review, illustrate, and edit technical documents, materials, and reports; and to communicate effectively.Technical Writer III:and#8226; Five years of experience with technical writing, journalism, or communications.and#8226; Experience writing in plain language format.and#8226; Experiencing using Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat.and#8226; Knowledge of the techniques and methods of planning, organizing, and writi g various types of materials; research methodology; and departmental policies, procedures, and regulations.and#8226; Ability to conduct research; to compose, review, illustrate, and edit technical documents, materials, and reports; and to communicate effectively.Preferred QualificationsPreferred Education:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelorand#8217;s degree in in Communications, English, Journalism, Business Administration, or Education.Preferred Experience:and#8226; Experience writing in plain language format.and#8226; Experience with Texas state government publications or communications.and#8226; Experience with HTML to develop electronic newsletters.and#8226; Experience using Acrobat Adobe.SubstitutionsOne additional year of experience performing technical writing, journalism or communications work may substitute for thirty semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).Licenses and CertificationsN/AIn this role you will:and#183; Create, update, and maintain Fiscal Management technical and informational materials within established deadlines and use writing, content organization and editing skills to:o Oversee, compose, and revise technical manuals and guides and apply plain language principles for publication on the web.o Prepare and disseminate weekly and quarterly email newsletters coded in HTML.o Develop, prepare, and disseminate policies and procedures, brochures, training materials and other informational materials.o Collaborate with subject matter experts, the web team, division and agency management and staff at other state agencies to gather and update information.o Review edited materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format and content.o Consult with the web team and subject matter experts in the development of format, graphics and layout for online publications.o Ensure the completeness and accuracy of division communications.and#183; Plan, coordinate, and manage multiple projects as assigned using project plans, deliverables, documentation, milestones and other tools or resources to achieve positive, high-quality outcomes within established deadlines.
