Details Title Senior Research Scientist (ACTG) School Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Department/Area Center for Biostatistics in AIDS Research (CBAR) Position Description The Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts has an immediate opening in the Center for Biostatistics in AIDS Research ( CBAR ) for a PhD-level Senior Research Scientist statistician to work in the ACTG (Advancing Clinical Therapeutics Globally for HIV / AIDS and Other Infections) network. ACTG is a very large NIH -funded collaborative clinical trials network with an international research agenda focused on the treatment and cure of HIV infection and associated co-morbidities, particularly end organ diseases, tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, and emergent infections. A successful candidate will join over 60 statisticians, epidemiologists, and research staff collaborating on the design, monitoring, analysis, and reporting of Phase I through Phase IV clinical trials, diagnostic studies, and observational studies. Applicants should have the potential to take a leadership role in ACTG and other infectious diseases projects, and the ability to: work as part of collaborative teams in designing, conducting, and reporting results from clinical trials and observational studies; provide the statistical expertise for, and lead the statistical work on, studies including mentoring and supervising other staff; and develop a self-initiated research agenda related to their HIV and infectious diseases research projects. The position may include statistical methods research for someone with an appropriate background. This position provides an opportunity to be a leader in a new generation of statistician-trialists. This is a term appointment, renewable upon mutual consent. CBAR has a hybrid work environment which includes a combination of on-campus/in-person work and remote work. Harvard is unable to provide Visa Sponsorship for this position. Basic Qualifications Doctoral degree in biostatistics or related field; at least seven years of clinical trials or related applied experience beyond a doctorate and a publication record beyond thesis papers. Applicants should demonstrate evidence of the ability to conduct collaborative and methodological research and work independently in the design, conduct, monitoring, and analysis of clinical trials and observational studies. Applicants should also demonstrate strong quantitative and communication skills and have strong interest in assuming a leadership role. In addition, the individual should demonstrate excellence in their area(s) of focus and responsibility. For example: + Demonstrated leadership skills and experience supervising, mentoring, or training research staff. + Regular publication in refereed journals as senior author or contributor of major ideas or innovations, with identifiable independence from senior scientific mentors. + Active participation in scientific societies, committees, and review groups at the national level. Additional Qualifications Experience with SAS and multi-center clinical trials a plus. Established interests in infectious diseases, particularly HIV or tuberculosis, or implementation science would be particularly welcome.
