Unit 3-1, our General, Urology and Colorectal Surgery unit is a fast-paced, patient-focused surgical unit specializing in care for individuals undergoing general, urologic, and colorectal procedures, as well as patients with renal disease, including peritoneal dialysis (PD) at the bedside. This is a Telemetry Class 2 floor, providing continuous cardiac monitoring as needed. Most patients are post-operative surgical cases arriving from PACU, with some direct admits from surgeonsu2019 offices or the ED. Common Interventions include: + Drain and wound management + Wound vacs, G-tubes, J-tubes + Ostomies and urostomies + Peritoneal dialysis + Continuous bladder irrigation + Occasional chest tubes Position Purpose As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to surgical patients. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes and a seamless patient experience What You Will Do + Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate patient care from admission through discharge. + Utilize clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and case management principles to support Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with NYS regulations and national standards of practice. + Recognize and respond to situations requiring immediate intervention + Serve as a mentor, clinician, educator and collaborator within the care team Specialized Training + Core EKG and Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) classes + Additional specialty education based on unit needs Minimum Qualifications + Graduate of an accredited nursing program + Current NYS RN license + GN's or RN's with less than one year experience should apply to our Graduate Nurse Residency Program + Commitment to continuing education and maintaining licensure Position Highlights & Benefits + Culture: Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values guide our practice.
