Job Title: Vessel Welder Job Description We are seeking skilled vessel welders to join our team. The role involves welding on storage tanks, spheres, and water towers ranging from 23ft to 43ft in size. You will primarily use stick and flux core techniques to weld vessels and components for tanks, with stick welding accounting for about 20% of the work. The position involves welding on carbon steel up to 3 inches thick and requires proficiency in back gouging as these are 100% x-ray welds. Responsibilities + Weld storage tanks, spheres, and water towers using stick and flux core techniques. + Perform welding on carbon steel up to 3 inches thick. + Back gouge welds to ensure they meet x-ray standards. + Utilize overhead cranes for material handling. + Read and interpret blueprints and isometric drawings. + Perform layouts and fit-ups independently. Essential Skills + 3+ years of experience as a vessel welder. + Ability to pass 2G and 3G weld tests and back gouge. + Proficiency in flux core and stick welding. + Experience operating an overhead crane. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience fabricating storage tanks, vessels, and towers. + Ability to read and interpret prints. + Fitting experience is a plus. + Experience working with isometric drawings. + Willingness to learn pipe fitting. Work Environment Work in a large, non-climate-controlled shop with heavy equipment where safety is a top priority. The position involves rotating shifts, starting with a day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and occasional Saturdays. After six months, you will transition to a night shift from 4:15 p.m. to 2:45 a.m., Monday to Friday, with a shift differential. You will then rotate back to the day shift after 2-4 months. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX 77041. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.50 - $30.00/hr.
