We seek employees who bring different and innovative ways of seeing the world and solving problems.The Institutional Review Office (IRO) functions as the central office for managing the ethical review and approval of human or animal studies conducted at Fred Hutch, with specific responsibilities for supporting the Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).The Business Analyst is responsible for providing support to the IRB and IACUC solutions in the Huron Research Suite, and for improving business processes of the IRO. A successful individual in this role applies knowledge of IRO business operations and needs along with knowledge of systems technology to identify, design, and coordinate information system modifications and implementations, serving as a liaison between business stakeholders, technical groups, and end users.This role will have the opportunity to work at our campus or remotely based on business needs.Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of IRO electronic systemsDiscover business requirements, then translate and document functional requirements and specifications for implementation, enhancement, or modification to the existing systemDesign IRO business rules, with input from stakeholders, in alignment with Fred Hutch initiative goalsConfigure systems for optimal process flows and efficient user interfaceAchieve quality project deliverables using appropriate tools and rigorous processSupport system and/or process change with proper planning, timely execution, user training, and issue tracking and resolutionDesign, manage, document, and participate in system testing; solicit user feedback for integration into systemsReview, develop, and/or update system user documentation of functional design changes and help coordinate for proper training of end usersTrack and propose post-implementation enhancement requests and work with applicable stakeholders to determine impact, urgency, and valueCollaborate with teams to achieve timely project objectivesWork with applicable project resources to ensure successful project objectives, timelines, documentation, and deliverablesWork with subject matter experts to gather requirements and model use casesWork with IRO personnel to understand IRO business needs; effectively communicate IRO business needs to other project team membersIdentify, troubleshoot, and solve cross-functional design issues, defects, and bugs in cooperation with system developersProvide excellent communication on all engagementsCultivate effective relationships within the IRO, Center IT, IRB and IACUC committees, across Fred Hutch, and with outside collaborators including vendors to support trust, consistency, and competence of the teamOptimize IRO business processes and associated documentationDiscover, evaluate, optimize, and document IRO business processesDefine workflow/routing within the IRO, identify gaps in process, and work with IRO management to successfully alter processes as neededCollect and analyze data to inform decisions about potential workflow changesProvide recommendations for process improvements, especially as it applies to system configurations or customizationsProvide IRO staff training on new or updated processes, including system demonstrations when applicablePerform IRO Support dutiesProvide first-line point-of-contact coverage of IRO Support email inbox, including consistent monitoring and timely triage of new messagesAssist system users with questions/issues, and troubleshooting of technical problems, escalating to the appropriate resources when necessaryAdminister system security processes and proper access gating for the IRO systemsUnderstand IRB and IACUC review systems and technical issues and facilitate problem-solving and resolution within and across these modalitiesHelp ensure system designs support compliance with regulations, laws, rules and policies that impact the review of research overseen by the IROAssist with system maintenance tasks, including rollout of production patches after business hoursCommunicate system outages or summaries of pertinent system-related updates to end usersHelp IRO staff with basic IT needs, and coordinate with or help escalate to center IT when additional expertise is neededPerform ad hoc system data queries or other reporting needs, as requested by IRO managementPerform other needed support, as delegated by the IRO Business Analyst ManagerMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related field.Minimum 5 years of IT business analysis experience managing Enterprise applications.Experience with application development lifecycle methodology as well as IT analysis mythologies such as process flow definition, data flow diagramming etc.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:2 or more years of experience supporting business applications in a research or non-profit setting.Experience in designing and leading requirements discovery sessions including use of interviews, document analysis, surveys, business process modeling, and workflow analysis.Ability to understand users’ requirements and write technical specifications.Ability to develop and execute test cases.Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.Advanced technical skills.Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.Strong communications and customer service skills.Knowledge of research-related policies and regulations, including FDA 21 CFR Part 11 preferred.Experience in the applications that support IRB and IACUC Management preferred; including the IRB and IACUC solutions in the Huron Research Suite.Certified IRB Professional (CIP) preferred.The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,475 to $120,682, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship at this time.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
