With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.Joby Aviation is seeking a Senior Program Manager who is a highly organized, passionate individual with excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. Working with various engineering teams at Joby Aviation (including Design, Manufacturing, Certification, and more), the Program Manager will develop and execute appropriate strategies and tactics that allow the company to achieve milestones on schedule and meet quality and financial requirements. This position will be based in our Santa Cruz headquarters and the primary responsibilities will include scheduling and planning for Airframe Structures Testing team projects. This role will operate in a fast-paced, demanding, and rewarding environment with very high expectations for individual contribution.Own, coordinate, and manage detailed project plans for the Airframe Structures Test Program, ensuring alignment with the overall Integrated Master ScheduleTrack daily project tasks and deliverables and surface risks, blockers, and critical path itemsCollaborate with other program managers and IntegratedProductTeams to ensure convergence of company-level efforts to achieve key milestonesGuide the team to meet aggressive timelines through the use of sound judgment, critical thinking skills, and creative resource managementPitch in with hands-on problem solving to resolve blockers and address critical path issues when neededDrive proactive risk management and seek to resolve any potential issues ahead of them limiting the programCreate, maintain, communicate, and present schedules to multiple audiences, from individual contributors to executivesHelp engineering leads create growth, organizational, and budgeting strategies for the team, as well as provide feedback that will allow the team to achieve higher operating efficiencyDevelop and maintain tools to facilitate the various reporting and planning functions described aboveBachelor’s in engineering or relevant fields4+ years of experience in an engineering environment with responsibility for implementing or managing changeExperience building realistic, measurable plans that balance accountability with flexibilityExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levelsHands-on experience in the simultaneous management of multiple complex, high-paced engineering projectsDemonstrated proactive approach to anticipate issues, rally the right people, and resolve blockers efficientlySolid understanding of the product development cycle for hardware-centric projects from early design through completion and launchExpertise in project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Confluence, and JIRAStrong skills in common workplace software (word processor, spreadsheet, presentation software, etc.)Experience with aerospace projects and FAA certification processExperience with composite manufacturing and testingCompensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
