The Dallas VA Health Care System, a large teaching hospital affiliated with the UT Southwestern Medical Center academic for internal medicine primary care physicians. At the Dallas VA, academic primary care physicians care for a panel of patients with the UT Southwestern residents, in a team-based environment that offers integrated in-clinic primary care, clinical pharmacy, and rehabilitative therapy services. A full range of consultative services is available on site, from patient wellness programs to advanced medical and surgical specialties. The Dallas VA has active research programs and is a core training site for the UT Southwestern Medical School. Opportunities for academic engagement include (but are not limited to) teaching and clinical precepting for medical students and internal medicine residents. Internists will serve as teaching attendings on inpatient medicine wards for 1-2 weeks at a time and precept residents in the Primary Care Continuity Clinic. Essential qualifications of successful candidates include excellent interpersonal communication, creative problem-solving skills, and desire to work in a multidisciplinary primary care team. Experience in clinical education or quality improvement is preferred. Candidates must be eligible for an academic appointment at the UT Southwestern Medical Center and board certified in Internal Medicine. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) with on-call duties when on medicine wards.
