Summary The Dallas VA Health Care System, a large teaching hospital affiliated with the UT Southwestern Medical Center, seeks full-time academic, internal medicine primary care physicians. Education Debt Reduction Program is authorized. Recruitment or Relocation Incentive may be authorized for highly qualified individuals. Responsibilities This is an Open Continuous Announcement & will remain open until February 9, 2026, or until all positions are filled. The first cut-off date is July 03, 2026. After that time, you must update your application through your USAJobs account if you would like to be made active again for possible consideration during the open period. ___ The General Internal Medicine Physician will work collaboratively as the team leader with clinic teams to deliver comprehensive patient care. The Dallas VA Health Care System, a large teaching hospital affiliated with the UT Southwestern Medical Center academic for internal medicine primary care physicians. At the Dallas VA, academic primary care physicians care for a panel of patients with the UT Southwestern residents, in a team-based environment that offers integrated in-clinic primary care, clinical pharmacy, and rehabilitative therapy services. A full range of consultative services is available on site, from patient wellness programs to advanced medical and surgical specialties. The Dallas VA has active research programs and is a core training site for the UT Southwestern Medical School. Opportunities for academic engagement include (but are not limited to) teaching and clinical precepting for medical students and internal medicine residents. Internists will serve as teaching attendings on inpatient medicine wards for 1-2 weeks at a time and precept residents in the Primary Care Continuity Clinic. Essential qualifications of successful candidates include excellent interpersonal communication, creative problem-solving skills, and desire to work in a multidisciplinary primary care team. Experience in clinical education or quality improvement is preferred. Candidates must be eligible for an academic appointment at the UT Southwestern Medical Center and board certified in Internal Medicine. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) with on-call duties when on medicine wards. Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus) and Relocation Incentive: May be authorized for highly qualified individual Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.
