Job Description A Large aerospace manufacturing client located in Santa Fe Springs CA is looking for a. Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) that will primarily be responsible for managing and implementing the companies welding program requirements in accordance with American Welding Society (AWS) standards and companies Quality Management System (QMS) while also ensuring compliance to applicable customer or statutory regulations. Secondary functions will be supporting general QC Inspection activities. Overview : This is a handsu2011on welding quality position responsible for maintaining and updating welding procedures, qualifying welders, conducting daily weld inspections, and managing mechanical testing. The ideal candidate comes from a structural steel or heavy fabrication environment and is comfortable working closely with production teams in a fastu2011paced, highly technical setting. CWI activities u00b7 Create and maintain WPSu2019 u00b7 Creating test plans and Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) u00b7 Monitor the welding of test coupons u00b7 Perform destructive and nondestructive testing as qualified u00b7 Outsource destructive and nondestructive testing as needed u00b7 Interpret test results u00b7 Document and file reports and data u00b7 Generate WPSu2019 utilizing weld management software u00b7 Qualify welding personnel u00b7 Monitor the welding of test coupons u00b7 Perform destructive and nondestructive testing as qualified u00b7 Outsource destructive and nondestructive testing as needed u00b7 Interpret test results u00b7 Document and file reports and data u00b7 Generate Welder Performance Qualification Records (W-PQR) utilizing weld management software u00b7 Perform critical weld inspections as required by AGSE, AWS, and customer requirements u00b7 Maintain welder continuity records utilizing weld management software u00b7 Assist and advise Engineering department with weld related issues u00b7 Research new methods for increased effectiveness within AGSEu2019s welding program u00b7 Advise and lead the Qualified Welding Inspector (QWI) team u00b7 QWI program u00b7 Train and qualify individuals in accordance with AGSE requirements within our QMS u00b7 Monitor the QWI activities to ensure effectiveness, accuracy, and performance u00b7 Generate quarterly metrics report regarding overall health of QWI program u00b7 Research new methods for increased effectiveness within AGSEu2019s welding program u00b7 Aid in generating DCRs for welding symbols and drawing corrections/improvements Other Responsibilities and Authority u00b7 Has authority to make decisions and to direct shop personnel regarding weld quality related issues. u00b7 Performs various QC inspections throughout the facility utilizing various visual and dimensional inspection techniques to verify compliance to all drawings, planning, and purchase orders. u00b7 Travels to supplier facilities to perform source inspections as needed. u00b7 Performs internal Quality Management System audits. u00b7 Conducts measurement system analysis when qualifying new inspection equipment or techniques. u00b7 Evaluates nonconforming material in accordance with quality requirements and works with Engineering and Operations to determine its disposition or referral to the Material Review Board. u00b7 Helps monitor corrective actions for validation u00b7 Oversees and monitors the inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established AGSE and customers quality standards. u00b7 Recommends changes to quality control policies and procedures; suggests process improvements . u00b7 Other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager. Day to Day: u2003u2022 Maintain, update, and modernize welding procedures, including prequalified and nonu2011qualified procedures u2003u2022 Identify gaps in existing procedures and develop new ones u2003u2022 Create and manage documentation within company software (Welding Qualifier by TWI; training provided) u2003u2022 Procure materials needed for testing and procedure development Mechanical Testing & Qualification u2003u2022 Oversee mechanical testing of weld test coupons (bend testing, lab testing, etc.) u2003u2022 Set up testing, witness results, and prepare the required qualification documentation u2003u2022 Qualify new hires and nonu2011certified welding inspectors under an internal training program u2003u2022 Ensure proper testing and qualification for all welding personnel Welding Quality & Inspection u2003u2022 Conduct weld inspections throughout the day u2003u2022 Provide daily consultation and technical support to the welding department u2003u2022 Support handsu2011on inspection, testing, and troubleshooting activities u2003u2022 Ensure all procedures, records, and quality standards are maintained Operational Support u2003u2022 Assist with catching up on outdated or obsolete welding procedures u2003u2022 Work within a growing team, supporting both shortu2011term and longu2011term quality goals u2003u2022 Occasional travel may be required, but not a core function We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day.
