Systems Engineer

Job Title: Systems Engineer Job Description We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support a large Naval Acoustics program. This role focuses on hardware-centric systems engineering, including specification development, interface design, and integration down to the sensor or module level. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment. Responsibilities + Develop and manage hardware specifications for sonar systems, including shock, vibration, and ship safety requirements. + Work with schematics, cards, power assemblies, and function generators. + Translate high-level requirements into actionable tasks; support verification and validation activities. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams (SW, DSP, integration) to ensure seamless hardware/software integration. + Support test configuration planning and execution for active and passive sonar systems. + Investigate technical issues, propose solutions, and drive resolution independently. Essential Skills + Bacheloru2019s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline. + 5+ years of systems engineering experience supporting DoD or Navy programs. + Experience with requirements development, verification, and validation. + Experience with hardware-dependent systems, including sensor design and high-voltage electronics. + Experience with reading and interpreting schematics. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with active and passive sonar systems or signal processing. + Familiarity with MBSE tools (Cameo, MagicDraw) and modeling languages (SysML, UML). + Working knowledge of MATLAB, and/or C++ for signal analysis or waveform evaluation. + Experience with test planning and execution. + Understanding of active sonar (energy transmission and return signal analysis) and passive sonar (hydrophone-based listening). + Prior experience as a technical lead or product owner in an agile environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Manassas, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $85.00/hr.
