Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. The incumbent is expected to provide hospitalist coverage to the acute care unit and function as the MOD (Medical Officer of the Day) as assigned by the call schedule which may include day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts. The incumbent works within the Acute Care Medicine Section of the Medical Service. Incumbent shall provide comprehensive medical care in the inpatient setting and manage medically complexed patients, is able to diagnose, treat and manage acute and chronic condition, and demonstrate competency in acute care procedures. The incumbent must be experienced and comfortable working autonomously. The Physician (Hospitalist) is expected to apply for Medical Staff Membership and request privileges and agrees to abide by the medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, and other policies and procedures of the Department of Veterans Affairs. The incumbent shall participate in facility orientation, medical staff meetings, required training and service line meetings. As the in-house medicine attending physician provider will be addressing requests for transfer to Medicine Service from outside facilities and urgent/emergent general medicine consults. The Physician (Hospitalist) should demonstrate the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and deliver patient centered care while adhering to hospital protocols and standards. Additional duties may include clinical practice, and mentoring/teaching fellows, residents, nursing, and medical students. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM, (subject to change based on agency needs) Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
