Job Description A large networking company is seeking an experienced Network Engineer with strong expertise in both Juniper and Cisco networking hardware to join their IT team. This roleu2019s primary responsibility is to lead and execute the migration of existing Juniper hardware to Cisco networking and security infrastructure, as well as to support day-to-day network operations. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting Cisco switches, routers, and security appliances, and possess solid hands-on experience with Juniper devices. This position is based in Fulton, MD, with occasional travel to co-location facility in Ashburn, VA. What Youu2019ll Do u2022 Provide daily operational support for network infrastructure, including monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting for both legacy (Juniper) and new (Cisco) systems. u2022 Respond to and resolve network incidents, ensuring optimal network performance and reliability. u2022 Perform routine hardware and software upgrades, patches, and preventive maintenance. u2022 Assist with ongoing management of network assets, including accurate updates to asset management systems. Installation & Configuration: u2022 Install, configure, and optimize Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, and other networking/security devices. u2022 Integrate Cisco hardware into existing infrastructures, ensuring interoperability and compliance with organizational standards. Documentation & Asset Management: u2022 Maintain thorough and up-to-date documentation of network topologies, device configurations, daily operations, and migration activities. u2022 Update asset management records to reflect all changes in hardware and configurations. Network Security: u2022 Implement and manage Cisco security solutions to ensure robust network protection. u2022 Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability mitigation as part of ongoing maintenance. Collaboration & Training: u2022 Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve complex networking issues and support business initiatives. u2022 Provide training and support for IT staff regarding Cisco platforms and post-migration environments. Other Duties: u2022 Participate in routine datacenter maintenance and on-site support as required. u2022 Assist with cabling and physical network installations within the datacenter.
