Survey Crew Chief (Travel)

Job Title: Survey Crew Chief Job Description We are seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to conduct field survey work, including boundary surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title surveys, topographic surveys, photo control surveys, route surveys, and construction stakeout. You will operate under the responsible charge of a Registered Professional Surveyor. Responsibilities + Conduct field survey work independently and with crew members. + Ensure efficient operation of the field crew using standard operating procedures and current health and safety standards. + Operate robotic total stations and GPS receivers to accurately collect data. + Perform tasks such as cutting brush, driving stakes, and taking detailed notes and diagrams. + Maintain company equipment and survey vehicles. Essential Skills + 5+ years of experience as a survey crew chief. + Proficiency in using GPS devices, data collectors, and Total Station. + Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative. + Knowledge of land surveying principles, techniques, and practices. + Understanding of computer-aided drafting principles and instruments. + Familiarity with civil engineering principles, construction specifications, plans, and regulations. + Knowledge of industry-specific safe workplace principles and practices. + Ability to operate motorized equipment and work outdoors under various conditions. + Valid Driver's License. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with Autocad, CAD, Survey tech, Topographic surveys, Topcon, Leica, Carlson, ALTA surveys, and Microstation. + Ability to adapt to moving toward drone work. + Capability to use virtual logging systems for reports and hours. Work Environment The position is field-based, with no need to report to an office. Tasks are assigned at the first of the week, and reports/hours are logged virtually through a company laptop. The role offers the use of a company truck, which can be taken home after a short probationary period, as well as a phone and computer. There is also support for pursuing further education and licensing, and an opportunity to join a growing company with the backing of a large corporation.
