Sr Java Engineer (Security Focus)

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Duties and Responsibilties of Job: The ideal candidateis a senior backend engineer who has built Java services in productionand is comfortable owning secure design decisions across APIs,microservices, and distributed systems. What You'll Work On Design,build, and maintain Java-based backend services and APIs using modernframeworks such as Spring / Spring Boot Contribute to microservicesand distributed architectures, with a focus on secure communication anddata flow Apply secure coding practices, defensive programming, andperformance optimization Participate in architecture and designreviews, with an emphasis on application security Perform codereviews, threat modeling, and vulnerability remediation for backendsystems Help teams implement and strengthen authentication andauthorization mechanisms (OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, RBAC) Work withrelational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB)using secure access patterns Support secure development practiceswithin CI/CD pipelines, including dependency and vulnerability scanningWhat They're Looking For 7+ years of backend software engineeringexperience with strong Java depth Hands-on experience buildingproduction Java services Strong understanding of application securityconcepts (e.g., OWASP Top 10) Experience designing and securing APIs(REST and/or gRPC) Familiarity with modern development workflows(Git, CI/CD) Ability to collaborate across engineering teams andcommunicate technical concepts clearly Nice to Have Experience withcloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Exposure to containers andmodern deployment patterns Experience with application security toolsor testing workflows Security-related certifications AdditionalDetails Employment Type: Direct hire Work Arrangement: Onsite(Milwaukee) Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in theU.S. without sponsorship Beacon Hill is an equal opportunity employerand individuals with disabilities and/or protected veterans areencouraged to apply.
