Job Title: Therapy/Rehabilitation - SLP Outpatient System: SUNY Upstate Medical University Location: Upstate University Hospital 750 E Adams St, Syracuse, NY 13210 Position Type: 13 Weeks Shift : Day 5x8-Hour (08:00 AM 04:30 PM) Hours per Week: 40 Pay rate: $50 - $55 per hour Position Summary The Outpatient Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to individuals with speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive-communication disorders. This role will treat a diverse population with emphasis on outpatient and acute care settings within a fast-paced Level I trauma center. The SLP will evaluate and develop care plans, document clinical progress, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. Must be able to work one weekend every other month. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive-communication disorders. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments. Provide therapy in outpatient and acute care environments. Document patient assessment results, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge reports accurately. Educate patients and families on treatment goals and home exercises. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, OT/PT, and case management. Participate in care planning to promote patient recovery and quality outcomes. Maintain compliance with safety, ethical, and clinical standards. Expected to float to other hospital areas as needed. Education and Qualifications Masters Degree in Speech Pathology required. CCC-SLP Clinical Certification required. New York State licensure required. Completion of clinical fellowship year required. Experience in a fast-paced trauma center required. Outpatient experience required. Preferred experience in Level I trauma centers. EPIC charting experience preferred. Must meet Tier II travel compliance: Minimum 2 years specialty experience (no exceptions) Page 2 Minimum 2 years acute care hospital experience preferred in Level I/II trauma center IV Therapy experience required (per facility Tier 2 guidelines) Must be able to read telemetry strips Must pass pre-employment health clearance
