This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Air Force Research Lab, Air Force Lifecycle Management Center, and other DoD missions. Your role will be to support our diverse portfolio of programs through a combination of software design and development, hardware interfacing and integration, laboratory experimentation, ground and flight testing to deploy cutting edge, next generation solutions.Primary Responsibilities.Design, develop and maintain mission-critical software in support of national defense, and intelligence gathering products for both airborne and ground-based systemsResponsible for performing the software engineering function, including the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging software programs for enhancements and new software-intensive systems and products. Applies appropriate principles, standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the software development life cycle.Duties include software requirements analysis, analysis of hardware compatibility, development of software products and tools used for design, development and maintenance of infrastructure, and platforms.Develops technical solutions that require collaboration with internal experts, deep analyses and understanding of impact on end-product/solution.Develops solutions to technical problems and issues that are unclear and require deep technical knowledge.Participate in laboratory, ground and flight testing to validate softwareDocument and communicate proposed software solutions with integrated, cross-functional engineering teams in a fast paced highly technical environmentWorks independently to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results or project deliverables.Responsible for entire projects or processes within a technical area.Stay up to date on state-of-the-art programming techniques and software technologiesParticipate in software design and code reviews to ensure delivery of quality products and enhance skillsetsBasic Qualifications.Bachelor’s degree and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 2-4 years of experience in software engineering, computer engineering or related field.Experience programming in one or more of the following languages: C++, Java, PythonExperienced in systems integration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex system problemsExperience working in a SIL environmentAbility to communicate effectively in writing and verbally from informal one-on-one discussions or in a small group environment.Work well within a team and independently with minimal supervision.Ability to work within a dynamic work environment, ability to handle multiple tasks at once (multi-task)Requires deep understanding of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of technical domain and has broad understanding of other related specialty areas.Strong desire to grow and learn new technologies.Must be a US Citizen.Strong interpersonal and communication skillsSecurity Clearance Requirements.Must be a US CitizenMust have an active DoD Secret level security clearancePreferred Qualifications.Active DoD TS/SCI clearanceFamiliar with Agile Methodologies, preferably SCRUM or KanbanExperience with Atlassian tools such as JIRA, Confluence, BitbucketExperience with model and simulation environments to support simulation and testExperience with Live and Virtual Constructive environments to understand complex systems and troubleshooting points for integrationFamiliarity with DoD Open Architectures such as OMS and SOSAExperience with containerization technologies such as docker or podmanExperience with KubernetesExperience developing and deploying to offline environmentsStrong understanding of Linux systemsExperience with Unit Testing and CI/CDStrong understanding of IP based network protocols such as TCP, UDP, and HTTPPrior experience working with the DoDCome break things (in a good way).
