Sr Software Engineer

Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic is one major organization responsible for the research, development, testing, and evaluation (RDT&E) of new and emerging technologies to enhance and increase the capabilities of the SSEE program. This support includes but is not limited to; research and identification of innovative technology, requirements analysis, testing and demonstration, technical writing, representation at S&T/R&D conferences, training, procurement, configuration management, production, transition support, drafting and repair. This support, ultimately, is designed to ensure the deployed Navy sensors are capable of achieving success against emerging technology from our Nation's adversaries.The Software Engineer will be a member of the RDT&E team focusing on developing services and applications in a Linux/Windows/DevSecOps based environment and identifying novel and innovative software to enhance the current capabilities of Navy systems and sensors. Engineering will be performed on Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS) and National Security Agency Network (NSANet) connected systems. The ideal candidate will have a history of direct involvement with successful software development, testing and sustainment.Providing on-site development and support to the SSEE Family of Systems (FoS)Identify, de-conflicting and orchestrating integration of competing software branchesRefactoring legacy Python or C++ code for efficiency enhancementsSupporting with GNU Radio environment and software developmentProviding support in the integration of novel solutions to existing Programs of Record (POR)Having developed communication skills and the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely, employing technical writing techniquesApplying existing skillset to novel systems with little-to-no existing documentationBeing a team player, dedicated to program support, capable of multitasking and working several complex and diverse tasks with simultaneous or near simultaneous deadlinesSelf-directing research including decomposition of existing systems and design of new systems and configurationsBeing a self-starter who is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision; a person who is open to new ideasBuilding modular and highly re-usable codeResearching and implementing integrations between various new/existing systems to provide new functionalityTroubleshooting existing Python or C++ codeResearching, identifying, and recommending new innovative systems and technology as well as improvements for existing system functionalityDeveloping innovative ways of integrating novel technology into existing PORsProviding of transition support for newly developed systems#LI-AM1Must possess an active TS/SCI clearanceMinimum of 10 or more years of software development experience Coding experience in one or more of the following:PythonC++Strong experience with multi-threaded, asynchronous, or event driven codeStrong experience developing/integrating digital-signal processing (DSP) algorithms (FFTs, auto-correlation, cross-correlation, digital filters)Experience with source control applications such as Git or SVNExperience with CI/CD pipeline common tools (Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube, Gitlab, BitBucket or similar) and practices Must currently hold a DoD 8570-compliant IAT II certification (SSCP or Security+ CE with appropriate CE/OS certificate) or be able to obtain within six monthsGood knowledge of applied mathematics and analog-to-digital converters (ADCs)Experience working with wireless communication protocols Experience developing/integrating algorithms within SDR frameworks (GNU Radio, REDHAWK)Experience creating and deploying Linux servicesExperience with Red-Hat-based LinuxExperience creating and deploying RPM software packagesFamiliarization with container conceptsSignificant understanding of network fundamentals (UDP & TCP over IP, socket programming)Experience with real-time network streaming and data processingExperience working with Navy Programs of Record (SSEE/CORSAIR/CCOP)SRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS, A U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TOP SECRET LEVEL15% travel requirementScientific Research Corporation is an advanced information technology and engineering company that provides innovative products and services to government and private industry, as well as independent institutions.
