The QISG team brings together Engineering, Safety, Quality, Material Procurement, QA/QC, Right-of-Way Acquisition, Scheduling, Environmental Planning, Permitting, Title and Land Management expertise that ensure outstanding results for our clients.Project AccountantOnsite: M-F, 8AM-5PM3500 Colonnade Pkwy, Birmingham, AL, 35243The Project Accountant is responsible for specialized project accounting functions and internal controls in accordance with company policies, accounting standards, and contractual requirements. This role partners closely with Project Management and Project Controls to manage project financials, including budgets, invoices, payables, receivables, and general ledger activity, while providing accurate financial insight throughout the project lifecycle.Review, analyze, and monitor project financial data to ensure accuracy and complianceAudit compliance with contractual requirements, including invoicing formats, reporting standards, revenue recognition, and cash flow projectionsApply a strong understanding of invoicing and revenue recognition under ASC 606Advise management on project financial performance and risksReview project activity related to accounting and contractual obligationsMaintain accurate contract documentation, including fee structures, budgets, and contract setupCollaborate with project and section personnel to provide timely financial data and resolve accounting issuesSupport multiple Project Managers and project teams with daily project accounting inquiriesPrepare detailed financial analysis and reporting on project status within established project control systemsDevelop and analyze reporting related to project baselines, cost control, cost estimates, earned value management (EVM), forecasts, variance analysis, and schedulesSupport technical project management activities and project reviewsServe as a centralized point of contact for internal and external financial stakeholdersPartner with technical staff and project leadership to provide financial insights that support key decisions related to scope, schedule, and budgetPrepare, validate, and maintain cost rates, baseline budgets, work packages, cost estimates, and monthly variance reportsUtilize earned value management and other project control techniques to evaluate planned versus actual performanceAnalyze project schedules to ensure logical sequencing, assess critical paths, and perform “what-if” scenario analysisEnsure compliance with internal standards, policies, and proceduresPerform special projects and other duties as assignedRequired Experience & EducationBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldMinimum of 4 years of experience in an Accounting or Finance roleExperience working within an ERP systemPreferred ExperienceExperience in the construction industryExperience using JD Edwards3+ years of project accounting experienceSkills & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance requirementsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft OfficeHigh level of confidentiality and professionalismStrong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to communicate effectively at all organizational levelsStrong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesSelf-starter who can work independently while supporting team objectivesCompetitive Compensation401(k) Retirement PlanHoliday PayPaid Time Off (PTO)Comprehensive Health CoveragePet InsuranceEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Professional DevelopmentTuition AssistanceEmployee Discount ProgramAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, sex (including gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, and/or gender identity), age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, and/or any other basis protected by applicable federal, state or local law.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
