Our expertise spans traditional electrical contracting, security solutions, audio-visual integration, wireless networking, and building management systems.The Assistant Controller at Miller Electric is a key leader within the organization responsible for the integrity, timeliness, and compliance of financial reporting. This role oversees the day-to-day accounting operations, drives a disciplined monthly close, maintains robust internal controls, and ensures audit readiness.Financial Close, Reporting and ConsolidationOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including multi-entity consolidation and intercompany eliminationsPrepare and/or review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses to ensure completeness and accuracy.Lead variance analysis versus budget/prior periods; provide drivers and narratives for management reporting.Oversee the preparation and review of GAAP-compliant financial statementsInternal Controls & ComplianceMaintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR), including SEC compliant documentation, testing coordination, remediation, and control optimization.Update accounting policies and procedures; ensure consistent application across business units.Audit ReadinessAssist with external auditors and internal audit for interim and year-end audits; prepare audit schedules and respond to PBC requests.Operational Accounting LeadershipOversee GL maintenance, revenue/cost accounting, fixed assets, inventory, lease accounting, and payroll interfaces; ensure accuracy of subledgers and integration to the GL.Monitor and improve close calendar discipline, cut-offs, and materiality thresholds.Team LeadershipSupervise, mentor, and develop staff accountants and set goals, provide feedback, and build succession pipelines.Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.Certification: Active CPA license requiredExperience: 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public-company or Big Four/public accounting exposure; strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.Technical: Proficiency with ERP systems, consolidation tools (e.g., OneStream), advanced Excel and BI tools preferredSkills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical ability, written and verbal communication, and internal stakeholder; capable of managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.BenefitsMedical and Dental 100% covered by Miller 401k retirement and matchingLife InsuranceShort & Long-Term Disability InsuranceFlexible Spending AccountsPaid Vacation & HolidaysTuition Reimbursement ProgramWellness ProgramMiller Electric Company is an Equal Opportunity employer - we believe that what is good for humans will naturally be good for business.
