A well-established California-based manufacturer in the building materials industry , operating across multiple facilities, is seeking a Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) . The organization produces concrete masonry units, pavers, and architectural concrete products and is committed to safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. Position Overview Reporting directly to the President, the Director of EHS leads company-wide environmental, health, and safety programs across Southern California operations. This role partners with leadership, regulatory agencies, and site teams to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and promote a strong safety culture across both production and office environments. Key Responsibilities + Develop, administer, and enforce company-wide EHS policies and procedures + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations + Serve as the primary contact with regulatory agencies and external counsel + Coordinate and facilitate regulatory inspections and site characterizations + Monitor regulatory changes and provide technical guidance to leadership and staff + Maintain and continuously improve corporate safety and health programs + Coordinate safety training programs and track certifications and renewals + Provide technical safety and health support to production and office personnel + Track permits, training schedules, and regulatory documentation Qualifications + 5+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing, construction, or global industrial environment (required) + Demonstrated experience supporting multi-site operations + Strong knowledge of environmental and workplace safety regulations + Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the workforce and leadership + Strong organizational, time management, and decision-making skills + Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment + Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook + Associateu2019s degree preferred (or equivalent experience) + Ability to earn safety certifications and industry-specific credentials + Willingness to travel between Southern California facilities + Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus Preferred Regulatory Experience + Cal/OSHA + CARB + SCAQMD + EPA + Local Fire Departments + Regional Water Quality Control Boards If youu2019re open to a confidential conversation or know someone who may be a fit, feel free to reach out directly.
