Moves, positions, and manipulates radiographic equipment to complete requested procedures safely. Performs direct patient care duties within the technologistu2019s scope of practice, including monitoring patient condition, transporting patient, and using proper infection control techniques. Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Cross-trains into advanced modalities as needed. Ability to follow basic radiation safety concepts of time, distance and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patient and staff. Other duties as assigned. Performs radiographic imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality images that meet department standards. Positions patients and equipment, selecting technical factors to produce radiographic images safely and in a timely manner. Performs imaging with correct patient demographic and examination information. Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems. Assists patients during procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and privacy, in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: u2022 Knowledgeable in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging to include Surgery and Trauma u2022 Previous Radiologic Technologist experience [Preferred] u2022 One year post certification experience required to evaluate and/or instruct student radiographers u2022 Ability to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operation, and quality control to ensure that information is obtained and presented accurately u2022 Up-to-date knowledge of patient positioning and equipment operations, including x-ray producing equipment, if applicable per facility u2022 Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals u2022 Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry u2022 Able to fully use all Radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment u2022 Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English u2022 Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office u2022 Must be able to use computer system for data entry and retrieval u2022 Patient care skills to care for Infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations u2022 Must be able to independently perform radiographic procedures to departmental standards u2022 Demonstrates ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively u2022 Ability to learn and use radiology software packages such as Cerner, Radnet, PACS, etc. u2022 Maintain responsibility for all required registries and licenses to perform Diagnostic Imaging u2022 Responsible to maintain all required continuing and annual education u2022 Knowledge of Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions u2022 Ability to determine appropriate technical factors u2022 Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety u2022 Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds u2022 Adult/and child/infant CPR [Required] u2022 Ability to perform radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail u2022 Knowledge of communication styles and constant deployment of proper engagement behaviors when encountering patients, staff, and physicians u2022 This position requires knowledge of the use of computerized and radiographic equipment to perform diagnostic procedures in a manner consistent with minimal radiation exposure and maximum image quality u2022 The ability to communicate and receive instructions, verbally and written and carry them out as directed u2022 Must be able to operate radiographic equipment and work with electrical and radiant energy u2022 Comprehensive knowledge of general radiographic procedures u2022 Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast pace, high patient volume environment u2022 Strong critical thinking skills u2022 Must have the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care that addressed the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age appropriate needs to the patient population served within the department Education: u2022 Associate [Preferred] u2022 Bachelor's [Preferred] u2022 High School Grad or Equiv [Required] Field of Study: u2022 N/A Work Experience: u2022 1+ year experience preferably in radiology or a new graduate of accredited radiologic technology program Additional Information: Additional Licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific unit or state in which this position is located.
