3rd Shift Quality Lab Technician

Description Actalent is seeking a lab technician to support an industrial paint manufacturing company in Columbus. This role involves coordinating the collection of random samples from production batches and conducting a wide variety of complex testing processes to measure the physical characteristics of products. The position is a long term opportunity and on 3rd shift, from 10:30pm - 6:30am, Monday-Friday. u2022 Understand and follow a batch ticket (recipe) with high degree of accuracy for weights and measurements. u2022 Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes on production batches to measure productu2019s physical or chemical characteristics. Tests include, but are not limited to, viscosity, weight per unit of measure, flow, gloss, color characteristics (compared with standards), and various other similar tests. u2022 Test on materials from suppliers and batches from production u2022 Perform standard testing procedures, including prep of materials, with attention to detail and high quality u2022 Follow daily work plan for Lab Work Request or project plan u2022 Accurately document work in lab notebooks (either physical or electronic) u2022 Recognize roadblocks or anomalies; resolve them or communicate concerns with a chemist in a timely manner u2022 Ensure raw materials are available and correctly labelled u2022 Correctly label and mail samples u2022 Maintain clean and organized work environment u2022 Tint batches without assistance u2022 Calculate resin composites u2022 Maintain QC records using web based computer system u2022 Prepare records for submission u2022 Testing on lab equipment-viscosity, pH, weight per gallon, % solids u2022 Draw downs u2022 Use of ovens u2022 Maintaining and performing calibrations on machines Skills Chemistry, Laboratory Top Skills Details Chemistry,Laboratory Additional Skills & Qualifications MUST: -Not color blind -Prior quality/wet lab experience or entry level graduate with AS or BS in Science PLUS: -Prior experience with color matching -Working with paint, pigments, coatings -Industrial lab experience doing basic wet chemistry-viscosity, pH, % solids Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.
