Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Responsibilities VA Careers - Psychologist: Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Staff Psychologist for whom this functional statement applies is assigned to the Behavioral Medicine and Neuropsychology Service (BMNS) within the Behavioral Health (BH) Service Line for the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital. The incumbent serves as a co-located provider within Primary Care and is a member of the primary care clinic's health care team. The Truman VA is a level 1C Medical Center, which provides both outpatient medical and mental health services at the main facility and at each of the eight Community Based Outpatient Clinics(CBOCs).Duties may include but are not limited to: Clinical Responsibilities: Utilizes appropriate brief therapeutic techniques or combinations of techniques to provide Evidence-Based and Recovery-Oriented treatment to Veterans with complex mental health needs within outpatient settings. The incumbent provides the full range of therapeutic interventions, including education, individual and/or family psychotherapy, and group psychotherapy to patients, family members, and significant others, as clinically indicated. Serves as an integral member of the primary care team to provide accessible, integrated, biopsychosocial and behavioral medicine health care services to patients assigned to the primary care team. Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for patients assigned to the primary care team, including prompt completion of clinical reminders. The incumbent formulates a mutually agreed upon treatment plan, which includes measurable goals, objectives, and treatment methods based upon the psychological assessment. The treatment plan is used to direct a course of treatment, is individualized to include patient preferences, and reflects a multidisciplinary approach to care (as clinically indicated). Provides consultation to professional staff on the primary care team and within the Truman VA concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients. The incumbent draws upon his/her knowledge of current research literature as well as patient-centered factors to determine recommendations. Functions independently as a member of the Truman VA Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges. The Staff Psychologist assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation. Administrative Responsibilities: Assists the Supervisory Psychologist in the design, development, and implementation of clinical programming, and assists Supervisory Psychologist in the execution of on going program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects to monitor the effectiveness of clinical programming. Regularly attends and actively participates in BMNS/PCMHI/CBOC Team meetings and provider huddles. Incumbent also attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Service Line Chief(or designee) and facility Director. The incumbent regularly attends Psychology Service staff meetings, and complies with Psychology Service peer review procedures.
