Description We are partnering with a leading ISP client in Ames, Iowa to fill a Cable Technician (Contract-to-Hire) role. Eligibility Requirements (must meet all to apply): + U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder + Valid driveru2019s license + Ability to pass a standard background check What Youu2019ll Do + Install, route, and secure Cat 5 and Cat 6 cables in new construction and renovation projects. + Terminate phone jacks and distribution frames (66/110 blocks, patch panels). + Assemble and organize server racks, patch panels, and network closets. + Perform conduit bending, rack-and-stack operations, and troubleshooting of broadband/network systems. + Conduct fiber optic work, including SC and LC terminations, anaerobic splicing, and testing. + Use tools such as digital multi-meters and cable testers to ensure high-quality installations. + Interpret schematic and line diagrams to deliver accurate and reliable builds. + Follow industry standards (ANSI/TIA, BICSI, NEC) to maintain compliance and quality. More About the Company + Growth Opportunity: Start as a contractor through our firm and transition to a permanent role with the client after proving your skills and fit. + High-Tech Projects: Work on complex commercial cabling and networking installations, not repetitive data center work. + Team Culture: Youu2019ll be paired with experienced leads who will train and mentor you. + Required Travel: While Ames is your home base, you must be able to travel to project sites in Indiana, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, and more Requirements Requirements: + 1+ years of commercial cabling experience. + Strong knowledge of Cat 5/Cat 6 installation, terminations, and testing. + Hands-on experience with fiber optics, splicing, and certification testing. + Familiarity with racks, patch panels, distribution frames, and support structures (ladders, racks, J-hooks). + Working knowledge of networking principles and troubleshooting. + Understanding of BICSI, EIA/TIA, or NEC standards.
