Assistant Controller

Description We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team on a contract basis in New Orleans, Louisiana. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting accounting operations and assisting with a major system implementation. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in financial reporting, reconciliation, and Oracle-based systems, along with a background in higher education. Responsibilities: u2022 Support the implementation and migration activities of Oracle Cloud systems. u2022 Perform general accounting duties, including month-end close processes and journal entries. u2022 Reconcile bank accounts and ensure accuracy in account reconciliations. u2022 Assist with financial reporting, audits, and validation of data during system transitions. u2022 Collaborate with project teams to ensure smooth go-live and stabilization phases. u2022 Prepare month-end reports and maintain accurate general ledger records. u2022 Analyze financial data to support decision-making and compliance requirements. u2022 Ensure adherence to industry standards and organizational policies in all financial processes. Requirements u2022 Proven experience in a Controller or senior-level accounting role. u2022 Strong proficiency with Oracle Cloud or Oracle ERP systems. u2022 Background in higher education accounting is highly preferred. u2022 Expertise in month-end close processes and general ledger maintenance. u2022 Familiarity with financial statement audits and reporting. u2022 Skilled in bank account reconciliation and journal entry preparation. u2022 Ability to work collaboratively during system implementation and stabilization. u2022 Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
