Stadium Job Type Full Time Job Number 38018 Department Houston Health Department Opening Date 01/29/2026 Closing Date 2/4/2026 11:59 PM Central + Description + Benefits + Questions POSITION OVERVIEW APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED FROM: All Persons Interested PN: 38018 Division: Administrative Service Division Section: Business Management Workdays & Hours: Monday u2013 Friday 8am-5pm Subject to Change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Houston Health Department is seeking an experienced candidate to serve as a Financial Analyst I to perform the following duties: + Review, analyze, and evaluate selected financial reports to identify discrepancies, trends, or areas requiring corrective action. + Contribute to the design, development, and improvement of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls. + Reconcile and process monthly expenditure corrections for approximately 70 P-Card holders, ensuring compliance with organizational policies + Process financial entries to replenish petty cash and maintain appropriate cash-on-hand levels. + Process and verify year-end close accruals and reversals to ensure expenditures are recorded in the correct fiscal year. + Maintain accurate accounting records by preparing, entering, and verifying financial transactions in accordance with established procedures. + Perform additional duties and support special projects assigned to meet departmental and organizational needs. WORKING CONDITIONS The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than-optimal temperature and air conditions. The position may involve dealing with modestly unpleasant situations, as with occasional exposure to office chemicals and/or extensive use of a video display terminal. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS One (1) year of professional experience in finance, economics, budget analysis or a closely related field are required. Substitutions: Five years of pertinent professional or para-professional experience may substitute for the education requirement. An Associateu2019s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field and three years of pertinent professional or para-professional experience may substitute for the education requirement. A Master's degree in a field directly related to the job may be substituted for the above experience requirement. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Requires a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
