This role ensures reliable access toacademic, research, and administrative systems, while maintainingsecurity, usability, and compliance with higher education standards. Theadministrator will collaborate with faculty, researchers, IT staff, andstudents to deliver a stable and innovative computing experience. KeyResponsibilities System Administration: Install, configure, and maintainLinux desktop operating systems (Ubuntu, Fedora, Red Hat, etc.) acrosscampus labs, faculty offices, and research environments. User Support:Provide technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students, includingtroubleshooting desktop issues, software installations, and performanceoptimization. Security Management: Implement and monitor securitypolicies, including patch/package management, endpoint protection, andcompliance with institutional IT standards. Software Deployment:Package, distribute, and update academic and research applicationsacross Linux desktops using automation tools. Integration: Ensureinteroperability between Linux desktops and services (Active Directory,LDAP, file servers, printing, cloud platforms). Documentation: Maintainclear technical documentation, user guides, and training materials forLinux desktop usage. Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams, faculty,and researchers to support specialized computing needs, includingresearch computation resources and tools. Innovation: Evaluate emergingLinux desktop technologies and recommend improvements to enhanceteaching, learning, and research outcomes.
