PRIMARY PURPOSE Manage retail operations for the assigned department making decisions impacting store associates, merchandise quality and presentation and the level of service offered to our customers. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Hannaford Strategy through store huddles, role modeling our cultural behaviors and consistent use of all available tools to help manage for performance. Ensure that store conditions involving store appearance, security, safety and food safety are consistently maintained at the highest level. Accountable for proper control of company assets. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES u2022 Foster a positive and inclusive environment to retain associates and customers. u2022 Ensure that all quality standards are met. u2022 Manage department operations in accordance with established department standard practices. u2022 Ensure the maintenance of the department's appearance and presentation. u2022 Hire, train and develop associates to meet the department needs. u2022 Attain departmental financial objectives. u2022 Supervise performance of all duties and responsibilities of all assigned department associates. u2022 Role model outstanding friendly customer service. u2022 Use good judgement in the delegation, assignment, and follow-up required for the efficient performance of the department. u2022 Ensure the maintenance of accurate records of production, shrink, sales and inventory. u2022 Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations. u2022 Provide recognition of accomplishments and offer constructive counseling when necessary. u2022 Treat all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect. u2022 Ensure department associates are properly trained by certified trainers. u2022 Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed as outlined. u2022 Develop product knowledge in all areas of the assigned department. u2022 Use RF (Radio Frequency) unit as needed. u2022 Retrieve and organize assigned departments product loads. u2022 Assist in effectively ordering and maintaining inventory control to maximize sales and limit shrink issues. u2022 Conduct performance appraisals on all department associates according to company standards. u2022 Maintain effective work schedules to meet production and customer service standards as well as associate's personal needs. u2022 Understand and use company tools such as: MPP, financial reports, scheduling, ordering and business information systems. u2022 Ensure operational and merchandising standard practices are followed to maximize profitability, paying special attention to priority categories. u2022 Maintain solid communication in the department and throughout the organization. u2022 Observe and ensure compliance with company sanitation, safety and food safety standards. u2022 Understand the causes and means for resolving and limiting shrink. u2022 Have total understanding of the department's standard practice manual and Program Manuals for each assigned departments program. u2022 Perform all other duties as assigned. u2022 Strong understanding of store operations and total store merchandising techniques. u2022 Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills. u2022 Excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job. u2022 Demonstrated good judgement solving problems, making decisions, handling complaints, arbitrating disputes and resolving grievances. u2022 Desire and ability to lead and manage associates throughout multiple departments. u2022 Department Manager or equivalent experience required. u2022 College degree or equivalent preferred. u2022 Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a
