Job Title: Interim Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Finance Location: Hartford, CT Reports To: CFO Job Summary: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interim Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Finance to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in full cycle accounting and a strong background in higher education finance. This role is critical in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the institution during this interim period. Key Responsibilities: u2022 Oversee the full cycle accounting process, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting. u2022 Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as institutional policies and procedures. u2022 Prepare and present financial statements, budget reports, and financial forecasts to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees. u2022 Manage the annual budget process, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of the budget. u2022 Provide strategic financial guidance and support to various departments and units within the college. u2022 Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. u2022 Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process and ensure timely and accurate completion of audit requirements. u2022 Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. u2022 Participate in strategic planning initiatives and provide financial analysis to support decision-making. u2022 Monitor cash flow, investments, and debt management to ensure the institution's financial stability. u2022 Conduct financial risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential financial risks. u2022 Oversee grant management and compliance, ensuring proper allocation and reporting of grant funds. u2022 Coordinate with other administrative departments to streamline financial operations and improve overall institutional effectiveness. Qualifications: u2022 Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred. u2022 Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years in a higher education setting. u2022 Demonstrated experience in full cycle accounting and financial management. u2022 Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting processes. u2022 Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. u2022 Proficiency in financial software and systems, such as ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite. u2022 Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders. u2022 Proven leadership and team management abilities. u2022 High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail. u2022 Experience with grant management and compliance in a higher education context. u2022 Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and external partners. u2022 Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Hartford, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr. Company benefits will be provided by our client once an offer is extended. Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Hartford,CT.
