Job Title: Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) u2013 Columbia, SCOverview We are looking for an experienced Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join our Columbia, SC team in a full-time, inu2011office/field capacity. This role is well-suited for a licensed survey professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys leading technical survey efforts, and takes pride in producing accurate, dependable results for construction and land development projects. You will be responsible for directing survey operations in the field and office, ensuring all work meets project specifications, industry standards, and South Carolina regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities + Lead and execute survey tasks for construction layout, boundary surveys, and control networks. + Develop and review survey plans, calculations, and field data to ensure precision and completeness. + Oversee and support survey crews, providing technical direction and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. + Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to clarify scope, resolve issues, and maintain project alignment. + Deliver high-quality staking, control, and asu2011built documentation with an emphasis on accuracy and reliability. + Manage workload and project timelines to ensure consistent, onu2011schedule delivery. Required Skills & Experience + Active South Carolina PLS license (or ability to obtain via comity). + Minimum of 5 years of progressive surveying experience, including significant construction layout experience. + Strong command of Trimble, GNSS/GPS, robotic total stations, and related surveying technology. + Proficiency in survey and CAD platforms such as Trimble Business Center, Carlson Survey, or Civil 3D. + Ability to interpret engineering plans, prepare calculations, and oversee field-to-finish processes. + Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide field teams effectively. Preferred Qualifications + Degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. + Experience with DOT or large-scale commercial/civil construction projects. + SIT or FS exam completion (for those seeking additional licensure). + Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple active projects in a fast-paced environment. Work Environment This position is fully in-office and field-based in the Columbia, SC area. Candidates should expect regular outdoor work in varying weather conditions, along with in-office time for data processing, calculations, and coordination. Field safety, professionalism, and attention to detail are essential. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Columbia, SC.
