This job profile may require call subject to the department's discretion.Education & ExperienceGraduate of a Radiation Therapy program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)u00a0Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:u00a0 ARRT registration in Radiation Therapy; Mississippi registration; or board eligible and certified within 6 months.u00a0Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of radiation protection and quality assurance, clinical concepts in Radiation Oncology, treatment planning, treatment delivery, and patient care and education.u00a0Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills.u00a0Ability to maintain accurate, detailed records. Ability to alleviate patient anxiety.u00a0Ability to ensure compliance with radiation safety principles and/or infection control standards.u00a0Responsibilitiesu00a0Prepares examination room; explains procedures and assists patients in preparing for examination and treatment; reviews set-up of equipment, patient positioning, and dosage calculations for accuracy prior to administration of radiation treatments.Assists Radiation Oncologist and Dosimetrist in the development of a treatment plan.Ensures compliance with the principles of radiation protection for patient, self, and others.Monitors patient condition during treatment; provides emotional support to patient.Maintains detailed records of patient treatment such as radiation dosage, total amount used to date, area treated, equipment settings, and patient reactions.Maintains a clean work area; checks and maintains equipment in safe and satisfactory working order; reports defects or deficiencies for adjustment and repair.The duties listed are general in nature and are examples of the duties and responsibilities performed and are not meant to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
