This Opportunity We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused entry-level employee to support track inspection activities by performing Right-of-Way Protection (RWP) duties. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of inspection personnel working on or near active rail tracks. No prior railroad experience is required; training will be provided. Key Responsibilities 1. Perform Right-of-Way Protection (RWP) in support of track inspection crews 2. Establish and maintain safe work zones in accordance with agency rules and procedures 3. Communicate clearly with inspectors, supervisors, and operations personnel 4. Maintain constant situational awareness of train movements and work activities 5. Use approved warning devices, flags, radios, and other safety equipment 6. Follow all safety rules, operating procedures, and instructions from supervision 7. Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near-misses immediately 8. Assist with basic documentation related to inspections and safety activities Minimum Qualifications 1. High school diploma or GED required 2. Ability to follow instructions and safety rules precisely 3. Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions 4. Ability to stand, walk, and remain alert for extended periods 5. Reliable attendance and punctuality 6. Ability to communicate effectively in English Preferred Qualifications (Not Required) 1. Interest in railroad, transit, or construction-related work 2. Prior safety, construction, or field work experience 3. Familiarity with radios or safety protocols Training and Certification 1. RWP training will be provided 2. On-the-job training with experienced personnel 3. Opportunity to advance into track inspection or maintenance roles Physical Requirements 1. Ability to walk 7 miles on ballast and uneven surfaces 2. Ability to lift to 50 lbs. as needed 3.
