Summary You will serve as an accounting policy adviser and consultant on accounting and financial reporting matters regarding filings made under the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. Responsibilities The mission of the Division of Corporation Finance (CF) is to see that investors are provided with material information in order to make informed investment decisions - both when a company initially offers its stock to the public and on a regular basis as it continues to give information to the marketplace. If selected, you will join the management group leading a highly technical and experienced team of accountants in the Division of Corporation Finance's Office of Chief Accountant. You will serve as an accounting policy adviser and consultant on accounting and financial reporting matters regarding filings made under the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. Manages a team of highly technical and experienced accountants. Communicates regularly with leadership of the Division of Corporation Finance, the Office of the Chief Accountant, audit firm technical experts, and various external stakeholders. Advises senior leadership in the Division of Corporation Finance and other SEC Divisions and Offices on matters involving complex or novel accounting and financial reporting. Leads policy or interpretative initiatives and provide advice on complex rulemaking projects. Advises on requests to waive Regulation S-X requirements in filings made under the Securities and Exchange Act. Collaborates in internal and external knowledge-sharing activities. Performs administrative and human resource management functions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Time-in-grade for this announcement is one year at the GS/SK-14 level. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
