We want your knowledge and expertise Job Summary and Qualifications The ED Paramedic provides high quality, patient-centered care within a defined scope of practice, according to certifications, state and local regulations, and facility policy. As a vital member of the healthcare team, the ED Paramedic gathers pertinent patient data, monitors vital signs, administers specified treatments and medications within the scope of practice, and ensures patient and personal safety in a hazard-free environment. The ED Paramedic delivers compassionate, holistic care, supporting the rights and dignity of all patients and promoting the vision/mission/values of the organization.u200b Responsibilities u00b7 Serves as a member of the healthcare team through active communication; documentation; feedback and assistance as needed or requested. Assists in facilitating the flow of patients through the emergency care system. u00b7 u200bMaintains clear communication with medical providers and nurses assigned to patient about all patient care issues. u00b7 u200bReceives patient report from EMS by radio and/or receives EMS hand-off reports at facility. Participates in patient placement as needed. u00b7 u200bObtains and documents initial vital signs and monitors vital signs as scheduled and/or as needed, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status. u00b7 u200bPerforms testing, specimen retrieval, therapeutic procedures, monitoring, or other functions, as ordered by the medical provider(s), within the defined scope of practice per state regulation. Documents the administration of care promptly and thoroughly in the patient medical record. u00b7 u200bAdministers prescribed medications, within the defined scope of practice per state regulation. Monitors patient for therapeutic response. Notifies provider and intervenes as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication. u00b7 u200bAssesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention. u00b7 u200bTransports monitored and non-monitored patients to inpatient units and diagnostic areas. u00b7 u200bInspects patient environment and eliminates any safety risks and/or non-compliance with regulatory standards. Implements fall precautions as needed. u00b7 u200bResponds promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively. u00b7 u200bResponds appropriately to emergency or crisis or situations. u00b7 u200bInvolves and educates the patient/family/caregiver(s) in the patientu2019s care. u00b7 u200bStocks, checks, and cleans equipment such as stretchers, closets, and cabinets, as appropriate. u00b7 u200bMaintains good working relationship with patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers, and other hospital staff. u00b7 u200bParticipates as an engaged, active member of the healthcare team and positively promotes the rest of the team to patients/families/caregivers and other colleagues. u00b7 u200bDemonstrates knowledge of human growth and development and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served. u00b7 u200bParticipates in continuous quality improvement initiatives. u00b7 u200bu200bPerforms other duties as assigned.u200b u00b7 u200bu200bPractices and adheres to the u201cCode of Conductu201d and u201cMission and Value Statement.u201du200b What qualifications you will need: + Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date + Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date + PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date + Paramedic + High School Graduate / GED Chippenham Hospital has provided quality healthcare services since 1972, giving patient's access to highly-trained physicians and advanced technology.
