Duties andResponsibilities Patrol buildings and grounds within an assigned area onfoot or in a vehicle; secure and unsecure buildings; report unusual orsuspicious circumstances or conditions; activate and de-activate alarmsystems; monitor and report obvious malfunctions in building physicalplant mechanical systems such as heating, air conditioning, lighting,water leaks, etc.; provide assistance, directions, and information touniversity personnel and visitors; detect and report any non-universityaffiliated persons in areas where it is not permissible. Answer calls toperform locking and unlocking functions, check alarms, and check parkingissues. Investigate and record irregularities which occur duringassigned shifts and take necessary action within limits or prescribedpolicies and procedures to correct the situation. Prepare writtenreports of accidents or irregularities, Render basic first aid asappropriate and request medical assistance as necessary. Perform otherduties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities PossessHigh School Diploma or Equivalent. Must possess a valid Driver'sLicense with favorable driving record at time of appointment. Ability topass a drug screen and police background investigation including a motorvehicle check. Must be at least18 years of age. Must demonstrateexcellent oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonalskills to resolve a wide variety of sensitive situations. Same as aboveAbility to maintain strict confidentiality, exercise sound judgment andwork independently. A strong commitment to providing top-qualitycustomer service. The ability to interact professionally and effectivelywith diverse publics is required. Demonstrated ability to think and acteffectively in emergency and sensitive situations Preferred Knowledge,Skills and Abilities Prior related experience (preferably in campussecurity) or comparable formal education is preferred.
