Summary This position is located at the Nebraska-Western Iowa VA Health Care Center, Specialty Nursing Services, Cardiology Department in Omaha, NE. As a Registered Nurse in our Cardiology Department, you be accountable for the effective management and coordination of care for patients for Cardiac Monitoring & Cardiac Stress Testing. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to providing high-quality patient care to our Veterans. The Cardiac Monitoring & Stress Testing Registered Nurse (RN) duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Performs nursing care within the Cardiology Department including Echocardiography, Heart Station, Pre/Post Procedure Unit Department, in the Non-Invasive areas as well as in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) or at the patient bedside. The Non-Invasive areas of Cardiology include Echocardiography, Cardiac Stress Testing & Imaging, Cardiac Monitors such as Holter Monitors and Zio Patches, and the Pacemaker/Defibrillator Interrogations & Remote Surveillance Program. Provides nursing care and support for patients undergoing echocardiographic & cardiac stress testing procedures such as transthoracic echo, dobutamine or chemically induced stress echo, exercise stress echo, transesophageal echo, exercise treadmill and nuclear stress testing procedures. Applies cardiac monitors used intra-procedurally or for home monitoring needs. Utilizes cardiac rhythm recognition in scanning Holter monitors to identify cardiac rhythms and prepares data reports including rhythm strips for physician interpretation. Performs 12 lead EKGs and utilize the software for editing and processing of EKG tracings. Assists with management of the pacemaker / defibrillator remote surveillance program. Troubleshoots remote monitoring equipment, provides education to patients on remote monitoring needs, pulls remote monitoring schedules for patients, ensures initial remote transmission post implant is successful, assists with abnormal remote transmissions under the guidance of the Cardiologist or Cardiology medical team and assists as needed for device/lead recalls and safety alerts. Performs an initial triage of procedure type and provides education and procedure specific instructions to patient for the intended procedure.
