SUMMARY: These positions are assigned to the State Communication Branch (StateComm) of the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), functioning within the Idaho Military Division (IMD). The primary purpose of these positions is to provide emergency dispatch and communication coordination services to emergency response agencies, incident commanders, law enforcement officials, and other agencies involved in public safety and protection. MILITARY DIVISION MANDATORY QUESTIONS: (1) Except for minor traffic offenses, have you ever entered a plea of guilty, no contest, or had a withheld judgment to a felony offense? (2) Do you certify that I am a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or a Foreign National with authorization to work in the United States? MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: (1) Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted state issued driveru2019s license (from any state). Provide your driveru2019s license number, issuing state, license expiration date, and the full name specified on the license. (Do not provide a copy of your driveru2019s license.) (2) Must have, or be eligible to obtain, and maintain a favorable NACI/T1 Federal Background Investigation. If a selected candidate does not have a current favorable NACI/T1, as a condition of employment he/she must submit to the investigation process immediately upon hire/appointment. (3) Must be able to complete the required training to be fully functional in the position as directed by the supervisor. CPR and IAED Emergency Medical Dispatch certifications to be completed by the end of the training process. Idaho Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Emergency Communications Officer (ECO) Basic Academy certification to be completed within 18 months of start date. FEMA IS-100.C, IS-200.C, IS-700.B, and IS-5.A prior to the start of Idaho POST ECO Basic Academy. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Must have 12-months of experience performing work related to the knowledge requirements below. Submit a paragraph for each knowledge requirement that demonstrates the required experience and describes competence in applying the knowledge. Education and training may be used to offset experience. (1) Describe your knowledge of emergency communication verbiage and techniques sufficient to exchange information verbally to communicate with a variety of individuals, with varying degrees of understanding, with tact and diplomacy. (2) Describe your knowledge of communications equipment, communication systems, and appropriate usage procedures. (3) Describe your knowledge of emergency dispatching procedures and emergency services or law enforcement response procedures. (4) Describe your knowledge of geographic location of jurisdictions served, to include locations and capabilities of primary emergency response agencies, health care facilities, hazardous material response agencies, and locations of safe harbor. (5) Describe your knowledge of techniques and methods that provide the ability to quickly identify, retain, and transmit critical information, to include your ability to speak and simultaneously input data using a standard keyboard. (6) Describe your knowledge of techniques and methods to govern emotions and responses to tense or highly stressful situations, sufficient to manage personal emotional state and positively influence the emotional state of the caller.
